Your first muscle car

My first car was a 57 VW bug but my first muscle car was a 64 tri power GTO Convertible. I got T-boned in it and it sat covered up in my driveway for a year before i could bring myself to even look at it. It was to expensive at the time to fix it so i sold it. Id take that car right now banged up and everything. Recently i went to a shop which did starters and alternators,the owner still had his original 69 Z that he bought brand new! What a trill to see it. I was impressed to say the least. Now 44 years later i have my first Mopar a 69 sport satellite conv. It wont be on the road this year but summer time next year looks good. Tell us about your first hot car

1969 Charger R/T. Bought it in 1976 for 700.00 and then sold it to a kid in 1987 who then totaled it in 2 weeks. That car sold new in my home town and I've own a 71 R/T and a 72 Rallye code U that both also sold here new. The 71 and 72 are still here local.

My 68 Road Runner and I still have it. Had several engines in it including a 426 Max Wedge (that was fun), cut the floor for a 4 spd conversion, plenty of racing at the track and off the track (allegedly) but now it's time to put it back like it was when I found it, but with improved appearance. Slot mags, vinyl top and the numbers matching drive train. That same 4 spd now resides in my 69 RR.

First car was a big block '72 Monte Carlo. Then a '71 455 GS Riviera. First REAL muscle was a 66 SS 396 Malibu.
I was a late bloomer, didn't get into Mopars til like, 1987.

That Monte was only 10 yrs old when I bought it. WTF! Why did it seem so OLD then? I guess time is relative to your age. The newest vehicle I own now is 25 yrs old and still seems relatively new to me....and I have to wear dime-store reading glasses to see **** on my smart-phone. How do you spell "anachronism"...?

My last muscle car was my 65 corvette conv. It had a small block in it and as much as that care broke down is as much as i loved it. I blew a piston in it right before i went to basic training and when i got home i put a stock 350,300 HP motor in it. I courted by wife in that car and we have many memories of it. In 74 i bought a brand new Monte and that year i sold the vette to pay off the Monte. So here we were in late 74 two kids married in a apt and my new car paid off in full.

My first car was a '69 Coronet 500 convertible, 383 automatic, hard loaded. (Bronze w/white top and interior) This really wasn't a muscle car, but you couldn't tell me that in 1975. :headbang:

My first was a 1970 Buick Riviera with a 455 under the hood. Then in 1979 I got a new Plymouth Arrow GT. 2.6 litre. I still miss that car. Got rid of it in 1985, traded for a new Buick Park Ave... POS. Got rid of the Park Ave in '87 for a Mercury Cougar XR7. Kept that until 1994 when I traded it for a '94 Mercedes C220 which I kept until 2004 when I traded for the Hemi Durango I'm driving now.

I grew up in Indianapolis a real gear head city. My first was 39 years ago, a 1970 Camaro 3 speed floor shift 350. Since then I have owned a few more of various types and values. Some would be worth a fortune now. The latest, my 65 Belvedere is #20.

My first, in not sure considering it as a muscle car was a 1951 dodge wayfarer business coupe. I was planning on it being muscle but never got there. Then came the blown up 69 charger 426 hemi..at 14 and no money to fix and had just drained my bank to buy for wait for it.....$800.00 (1977) I sold that and bought the 1973 charger se, which I drove through high school and college.

Now....1969 Charger ( no hemi though, 383hp)

My very first car was a 1969 Torino GT 390 cid 4 speed bought in 1978, second car is the GTX I still own today Bought in 1979.

78 trans am bought in 90. Left home in 95 and the car sat at my parents house........until my dad sold it! Wish I still had it. Alot of parties and girls that car saw.

First car was a 1970 Duster 318, B-5 blue, sold it for a 1970 Buick GS 455 in 1977, wish I still had both of them

I had a 64 Plymouth Sport Fury Convertible Silver/Black 383/330 4 speed in high school (1969). Sweet car, first Mopar, and only Mopar until I bought a 94 Viper RT/10 Red/Black 488/400 6 speed (2000). The Sport Fury was slow off the line, but a true 140 top end. Did not really meet the true definition of a muscle car.

First true muscle car was 65 GTO Blue/Black 389/335 single quad four speed (early 80's). Quick off the line, but hit red line in 4th gear at about 105.

First true sports car was a 1970 Lotus Europa Red Black 4 cylinder 80 horsepower true mid engine and 1,400 pounds. (1975) Cornered like a go cart but the front end would begin to lift off the ground at a little over 100.

Last car before 67 GTX was a 96 Viper GTS Blue with White Stripes/Black with a 488/450 V-10 6 speed. Car had minor mods to put out about 500HP. Quarter at 122 and just a hair under 12 seconds. Never pushed it far enough to find out top speed, but probably around 165.

All four very different cars, but all three a blast to drive.

Can't compare the GTX to any. As soon as I got the brakes and major fluid drips fixed, I took it apart to restore and it has been in the paint shop going on year. I do know from the few miles I put on it that the drum brakes have got to go. It has been quite a while since I had driven a drum brake car, and I had forgotten what they were like. Been quite a while since I had driven a car with power steering that light and no road feel also. The little I drove it the car got a lot of attention on the road. Paint job was not bad but ten years old and showing a few rust bubbles. I stopped for gas driving it to the paint shop and had a guy ask if I had just had it painted. I guess I should have driven it a while first before taking it apart. I started looking for a build sheet and got carried away and next thing I knew it was in many pieces and headed for a complete restoration. :walk:

First car was a 66 Belvedere 318 which got a mild 383 in 70 and after a few other cars not worth mentioning, a 72 340 Challenger came to live with me for a bit in 74 but the first real muscle showed up in 82 and was a 70 440 Challenger RT convertible. The X hated it and is one of the many reasons she's an X It was sold in 84....

.....I had an 1978 AMC Pacer in 88' and traded it for a 74' Dodge Dart sedan. 318 motor with A/C. Thing ran forever without any issues at all. Best car ever.....

My first car I owned was a 66 Pontiac Bonneville 2 door triple black 389 4 barrel with the Grand Prix 8 lug aluminum wheels, you might not think musclecar when mentioning a Bonneville, but basically it looked like a stretched GTO on steroids, and it was a pretty fast and fun car for a beast.

I guess this was my first muscle car, it only had it about 3 months before wrapping it around a tree one night, never actually had a picture. My was black and had a 427.
