Your first muscle car

My first car was a '69 Coronet 500 convertible, 383 automatic, hard loaded. (Bronze w/white top and interior) This really wasn't a muscle car, but you couldn't tell me that in 1975. :headbang:

You can't tell me that now. ;-)

What technically disqualifies it, convertible?

I guess this was my first muscle car, it only had it about 3 months before wrapping it around a tree one night, never actually had a picture. My was black and had a 427.

Dude ... :eusa_doh: I feel your pain, I slid my 69 Coronet through the wall and into the woodshop at my school. :icon_redface:

First car was grandma's baby blue 1970 Dart Swinger slant 6. No pic.

First MoPar I bought was a beater 1968 Dodge Charger 440 auto that I got for 600 bucks from some bikers in early '80's. Only drove it a couple times. No pic.

Then came the 900 dollar 1970 Coronet 440. 318 auto on the tree:

First true muscle car I bought was 1969.5 A12 SuperBee 440 SixPack 4speed, from the original owner for 1500 bucks in '86. Only pic I have of the Bee is the day I brought it home, before getting the correct interior and lift off hood from the seller:

I REALLY miss that one....

My first car was a 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS396 4 Speed car. Sold it when I went to college, I never really had the money to keep it anyway. FOr some reason I kept blowing the clutch out of it. Not sure why. Wish I still had it, but at the same time I always wanted a 70 Roadrunner even when I had the Chevelle, so it worked out in the end...

Here's a pic of it from back in '92. Besides it is my friend's 1962 Impala SS, which he still has to this day...

my first car was a 1973 MGB. not really a muscle car. My first real muscle car was a 1971 'Vette 454 car.

I've owned more than my share of cars over the years. Since this is a Mopar forum: 1974 Roadrunner, 1971 'Cuda 440, and my current project; 1970 SuperBee purple,4 speed, N96 car!!!!

my first car was a muscle car kind of... it was a 64 cuda that had a totally shot 273, me and my buddy found an old demon in a junk yard with a 340 in it we bought a brand new 340 block (150 bucks, can you remember those days?) and used everything else from the old block, put 10:5:1 pistons and a 3/4 cam in it, they called em 3/4 cams because you could only get a full race cam or the factory "race" cam which was "3/4's" of a full race one, custom ground was too expensive back then. anyways that car was a rust bucket but did it ever scream

my first car was a 63 409 2 four barrel 4 speed chevy impala ss broke the motor sold it bought my first road runner and been hooked ever since I was 16 at the time

74 Maverick 302 4dr. Drove it like a rented mule!

'66 Fairlane XL 390/auto. I dropped a 418ci FE in it with an Erson HiFlow 1H cam and a factory 427 4v intake with $50 headers (remember when you could get a set for $50 that actually fit?). MASSIVE peg leg burnouts ensued...

My first car of any kind was a '70 GTX in high school. It had a 440 6bbl from a '69 RR, 4-speed, Air Grabber hood. Originally an FK5 car, it was painted black before I got it. Sure wish I still had it.

First car was a 1966 Dart 4-dr, 273 2-bbl. Can you say *hot*? Um, no. First semi-muscle car was a 1961 Chrysler 300-G, 413 cross ram. I bought it in 1979 and sold it a year or so later. Wish I still had that one...

Others were a '65 Barracuda 273/235-4spd and a '70 Road Runner 383/727.

First car? Sweet! ... but how do you top that?

I probably can't unless I would win the lottery and could find an original A990 car. I sold it in '84. I did track it down around 2000 - by phone. It was only about 2 hours away from me at that time. By the time I got around to getting down that way, the guy had sold it and moved away. I don't know where it is now, but likely in WI or MI. Who knows - it could be over seas by now, too. I might track it down again some day. The current owner would probably be interested in some of the car's history from over 30 years ago.

1975 dart that quickly was sold for a 1972 road runner

'72 Dodge Dart Swinger 2 dr, Ht. Pulled the 318 out and installed a 383 using a Direct Connection K-frame. Went all over that car top to bottom as the years wore on. Blew up the original r/e (7.25) and installed a 8.75 with a 3.55 sure grip, installed the OE KH 4 piston front disc brakes setup. I should probably start working on her now that I think about it....
