Your first muscle car

I only owned one muscle car a '69 Buick GS. 2 door sedans and mostly dodge trucks... my '80 D150 was my first it had a 71 360 someone raced and a 883 4 speed... I bought the truck for a dollar. And it smoked everything around at the time I got a ticket for criminal speed for 148 in a 55 and illegal use of crossover....

I have owned a few muscle cars; dodge dart 340, Plymouth road runner 1970 and 1971, and a 1971 barracuda. Now these were all fun cars while I had them, however I would always find another car to draw attention, now the first car I ever drove was in my opinion one of the best accelerating cars I have ever driven. I really know most of you won't agree, but my 1997 ford expedition truck is the first "muscle car" I ever owned, I know it is not a 1970s tire burner that I normally look for, but I can go for miles at 100 miles per hour while still feeling the v8 roar and the radio cranked to AC/DC, t is a feeling that I hope to never forget. If the car doesn't die I can drive it every day. The next car I buy is going to be a small project, that I won't get sick of working on or driving, I think I'm going towards a 1971 charger or another road runner with minimal work, but for now I got nothing to work on. After selling my last project before I even got started, I am slanted towards a cheap early '70s muscle car

my 1st. was a 68 Ford Mustang with a ho-hum 289 in 1978. the real muscle didn't come into my life until 2005 when i bought my 69 Roadrunner. love my Mopar!

Mine was a 72 Charger se big block car. The body was good but a mess mechanically. I wish I had it today it was a good project. Someone stole it in the early 80s.

First car and first musclecar: 1972 340/727 Challenger I bought for $1200 when I was 17 in the early '80s. Here's what it looked like when I got it:



Fast forward a few years, can't leave well-enough alone, don't care about originality, etc...Swapped in a 426 Wedge and ran 12.80s:

First car was 1972 Heavy Chevy Chevelle had it 6 months traded for a 1969 Mach 1 traded that 8 months later for a built 1967 mustang coupe. Sold that bought a 1970 Challenger black on black 340 4 speed only had it 2 weeks thought I did so well by doubling my 650 dollar original investment:angry1: Ohh to be able to go back in time!

My first Muscle car was a 1970 Dodge Charger RT SE 426 Hemi. After I bought the car I removed the 2x4 Carters and installed a Rat Roaster with a 950 Holley. I milled the cover lid down on the rat Roaster and the car ran like a Dog outa Hell. Then i added a Vertex Magneto and could barely close the hood. That made a big difference. 10 inch slicks I was the man. O to be 1974 again! Before the Thought and Environmental Police Destroyed everything.

Not sure if my 1970 Mercury Cyclone (bought when I was 15) counts as a muscle car otherwise my 1969 Roadrunner 383 with 4 speed (bought when I was 18) would have to be it.

My first was a 72 Satellite that I cloned into a Roadrunner. Car had a mildly work over 340. Paid $1200 for that car in 1981. That was a great car. Sold it in 1994 for $4500 to help pay for our first house. Now another 72 SSP sits in my shop.

I remember the first night I was out with that car. It would burned the tires off in all four gears. Somehow after attempting to sell the car in the eighties I ended up letting it set in my parents basement for 10 years. Sure glad I hung onto it. When I run into someone from high school they can't believe I still have my first car. I didn't own a mopar until years later but I had friends that had them and I spent many a night crawling under RT chargers and coronets installing headers and changing rear end gears. I developed my love for all muscle cars.

My last muscle car was my 65 corvette conv. It had a small block in it and as much as that care broke down is as much as i loved it. I blew a piston in it right before i went to basic training and when i got home i put a stock 350,300 HP motor in it. I courted by wife in that car and we have many memories of it. In 74 i bought a brand new Monte and that year i sold the vette to pay off the Monte. So here we were in late 74 two kids married in a apt and my new car paid off in full.

Not to piss on your cheerios or anything Steve but a 65 Corvette, while cool, is not a muscle car.

----------------I served in the Guard. I went into basic at Fort Knox around Febuary of 73. I blew that piston racing a shelby mustang about a week before i left. He had me in first,i banged second and caught him and thrid i passed him. By the time i hit forth he was well behind me. I over revved the engine in second and when i pulled over the motor was puffing a little

Sonny's first car was a 55 chev 265, 3 speed...a dog.......:icon_confused:
second was a 1960 chev imapla 283 4bbl 3 speed, it was a POS...:eusa_think:
then I was talked into a 1964 Plymouth fury 2 door hardtop, 383 4 speed...355's :upside down:the rest is history and that Plymouth was my FIRST muscle car..

no, your 97 Ford pickup isn't a muscle car, just because it can cruise at a 100, and has a v-8, otherwise we might as well invite lexus owners to the club...lol, but, since you said you listen to AC/DC, greatest band in the world, all is forgiven, now go get that Charger, there are a few 71-74 project Chargers around me even, expand your search...go get-em!!
