Hey Ron,My goal with the Bee is to run 11.50,s I,m 2-3 10ths shy so I had Dwayne spec a cam, porting the Ebrocks is the icing on the cake. The car runs so nice on the street I,m afraid to touch it .I have a couple of Chevy buds that I have to stay ahead of,a 55 BelAir with a 502 roller motor, and another with a 468 70 Nova SS,It,s all in good fun.It cost my friend with the Nova $7000 to rebuild his 454 because my 496 sounded so good....lol

Nice 68 Super Bee, & quick

Thank,s for the kind reply,s. Anyone building a 500" stroker in a B body car will run 11,s with traction and 3:55 and higher gears,I,m considering mine a mild build with a completely stock unibody.

What do you think about 3.23s in the combo you describe?
I am not sure whether I should go for the 3.55 or the 3.23s.
Currently got 4.10 LSD 12.2 @110 mph in the old lumpy 440 69 bee.
512 with stealths on the way soon so I want the right gears.
What do you reakon about the ratios?

At present I have a 3:73 Dana 60 in the Bee with a 30" drag radial, works out to around 3:50,s ,does not feel any different than the 3:91 8 3/4 rear, the engine is running in it,s sweet spot at highway speeds with the cam and convertor I have, pulls hard from idle to 6000 rpm.Pick the cam and convertor to the gear ratio you want to run and should run easy sub 12 ET,s. There,s a Dodge Charger in the forums with 3:23,s and manifolds running well into the 11,s @120 mph

69 roadrunner-full interior and street legal. No cage or fuel cell.
.030 over 440, 915 heads, 284-484 Mopar Purpleshaft, Weisco pistons, Holley 850 double pump, Torqueflite with PTC 9 1/2 inch converter. Pump gas.
11.70 @ 111.60 on motor. 10.76 @ 124.00 with 175 hp shot of nitrous oxide.

I am building a 512 with stealths for a 66' Sat. I am going to run 3.23 gears in mine but it will mainly be a street bruiser/cruiser. My build's will utilize a hydraulic roller from Comp, XE286HR. I am hoping the combination will net some low 12's without leaning on it to hard.

From Beezee;"I now have 3:73 Dana 60 and to be installed, a Dwayne Porter solid flat tappet,Bee Hive springs and planning on porting the RPM,s"

Hey Beezee, did you buy the edelbrock RPM's assembled and install them without any other work done to them?

Tougher

You can maybe run in the 11's with the 3.23:1 gears you need to be making some serious power to move a 3600-3800lb+ car into the 11's with 3.23 gears, it will be tougher for sure, than with a steeper, 4.30, 4.10, 3.91 or even a 3.73:1 gear getting the car moving quicker in the 1st 60-330ft of the track is were a bunch of the ET will be made up & much easier with a looser converter, drag radials or slicks & steeper gears.... If your planning on running it at the track your putting your self at a disadvantage with the taller 3.23:1 gears, it can be done but, if it's a street/strip combo the 3.73:1 is a great compromise, with the correct tire diameter & converter...

Goose, the Edelbrocks were out of the box,my engine builder told me improvements can be made with a little bowl work and a good performance valve job

Well now, good to know. I bought fully assembled ones at first and sent them back and got bare castings. Bought all the guts for them and had my machinist port them and install all the goodies. Beautiful looking too! I wish I had ran the fully assembled set so I could compare against these. Good numbers on yours tho beezee! Glad to hear they worked out.
