I want to Convert my 67 Coronet 44O to rack & Pinion.
I've called two manufacturers but none can Say their kit WILL Work
has any one done this swap on a 66 or 67?

please let me know which kit you used and your experience
thanks !

Hey, just curious....

When these front ends have no issues (i.e. worn parts), they are gorgeous..... that's probably the # 1 reason no company has decided to make a kit for vehicles that don't need something like that.

Just curious why you would want to monkey with something that needs
no monkeying with.......

Part II

Just noticed you are in Connecticut -- I will be there this weekend -- at Stafford Springs (the swap meet) if that's anywhere near you....
Check your front end -- I have every drop in stock -- Upper & Lower ball Joints, Upper & Lower Bushings, Inner & Outer Tie Rods & Sleeves, Idler Arm & Pitman Arm, Stabilizer Links & Strut Rod Bushings......

Call me and I'll put it aside for you -----

rack & pinion

alterkation says they fit 62-72 ?????? your going to need the complete k frame and all

but I agree , just get a firm feel factory style box from steer & gear and save your sell time and cash http://www.steerandgear.com/

The Alterkation setup is pretty nice. About $4000 more nice than I planned on spending.

I have used a Steeroids Kit on a 70 Mustang I built some years ago. The difference from the old recirculating ball type steering system is significant.

I drive a 2012 Mustang with Rack & Pinion, and a 2010 Silverado with Rack and pinion. The have far more positive a road feel from my 67 RT, and my 79 C-10 pickup. Upgrading to R & P costs about as much as rebuilding the original stereing. I'm not into coucours restorations. I like my old cars, but I like for them to drive and stop line a contemporary car. Obviously, this makes them safer and more enjoyable to drive.

Everybody likes what they like. If you want yours to look and behave like it did 40 years ago, that's cool.

Thanks for your input.

Again I run the firm Feel box (from steer and gear ) on my cars and it drives like a modern car , for the price of 275.00 - 325.00 you cant beat it . Throw on bigger sway bars and torsions cars and you will be happy .....

Craig,

Send me a PM for the price of a complete rebuild kit, all the bushings, joints, boots, etc for the front of a 67 Coronet. I need to rebuild mine this year once I finish mocking up the engine. Also, shipping estimate to 46368. Thanks
