Beautiful place Ma!!! What did you set the ceiling height at and what material did you use for the ceiling? I have an older 36 x 40 with a 13' eave height that is not insulated. I bought a 200k btu forced air heater but I need to insulate and want to add some type of ceiling so I can contain the heat. Yours looks awesome and appears to be some type of metal. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks. The ceiling is just corrugated sheet metal. Works good but is a little noisy as it does not absorb the sound. Uooside is when I wash things inside I do not have to worry about getting water on it I think we set the side walls at 14' and the ceiling at 16'.

First let me say I am very lucky to have a wife that lets me pursue my dreams without too much fuss. Second, I am lucky to finally have the finances to build and buy things I have always dreamed about. I have worked hard all my life, saved my money, and been lucky to have some of my investments pay off.

I live on a 30 acre farm which I grow corn on as a hobby. My house and buildings set in the middle of the property. I have a 60 x 60 farm barn I store my equipment in and do my "dirty" repair work. We built a heated 54 x 90 barn for toys. This barn has three sections. The rear 2/3rds are for heated storage (no more winterizing things). The front 1/3rd has 2 stories. The bottom story is for my office and "cleaner" work area. The 2nd story is our bar where we entertain.

5 x 12 feet from the end of each handle for raising the height - In the lowest position it is 8 feet 3 inch high

Ma, very nice, clearly you spent some time on the design. Did you start with a blank sheet or tweak an existing floor plan provided by the builder?

Let me offer up my congratulations on a super nice shop. It's far more than a shop, though. I really like seeing pics of the shops and garages. Mine is certainly modest but it's my favorite place on earth and I'm thankful every day for being fortunate enough to have it. I noticed the Model A and the Chrysler. Model A Ford's have long been my favorite 'Antique' car. I spent many hours restoring them. I sold my last one to buy my Super Bee. I'd love to see pics of the Chrysler and the 'A'.

The floor plan was a clean sheet design I came up with.

There are pictures of the Chrysler in my galleries in FBBO and FABO. I will get some of the Model A and let you know when I put them in

The long rams on the table are planned to go into my 61 Chrysler on top of a 413 I have to rebuild to replace the 2 barrel 361 in the car. But that will be in the future, as I have other projects ahead of that.

The ceiling height will limit getting your car high enough to stand under, but still high enough to make it much easier to work on.

Attached is a picture of what came out of the exhaust of the Model A when my broither and I finally got the bad boy to run. Some mice had set up camp inside.

I had seen the pics of the Chrysler. Just looked at the Model A pics. Mice seemed to find lots of places in them to nest. Just loved the sound of a Model A idling with the timing lever set at full retard. Lots of fun to drive too. Someday, I'd love to get another one.

Nice garages, folks! Be sure to fully appreciate your expansive spaces, there are those of us who are stuck with garages that fit nothing but our cars. My charger has about 2-10 inches of clearance around it... but at least it fits! :icon_wink:

And beleive me when I tell you I do appreciate the extra space. But even more, I appreciate having a garage, period. I spent the first 30 years of my life fixing cars, trucks, and farm machinery laying on the ground outside, sometimes lucky enough to have a tree for shade.

I know, I know, you probalely think I am the type that would tell you I use to have to walk to school... up hill...both ways....LOL!!

Nice playgrounds......im getting ready to start on mine soon it'll be a couple year project since im doing all the block work myself....and I mean literally block work....front shop will be 30x36x12tall and back shopping will be 36x40x16tall shaped like an L and then a 10'I lean to on front shop with a 10x12 door so I can park the cargo trailer under the lean too, and roll cars out into rear shop.....front shop will have a 10x16 door and an office, this is where the completed cars will be and another door inside to devide the two....any other recommendations ....there will be i-beams overhead for hoisting duties also...

AMEN TO THAT... they are never big enough, :werd: , but the city, county or state building dept.s, may disagree with you on that one & charge accordingly, we have to pay an additional $2 per/sgft on top of all the permit fees, egress & regress, storm drain & ground water, sewer hook up fees, electrical terminations & added power panels, cable & water supply fees.... Lots to plan for.... ops:
