They could mean several things but general they mean the car required attention above normal construction for some reason. They are common on cars like cop cars or cars that required special paint. They're not uncommon and they usually don't mean anything to get excited about.

At Hodge Restorations, the first thing they did was to go after the broadcast sheet. A likely place is the rear-seat springs. According to Le, "When it got here, I looked at the fender tag. It was a '71 Challenger, not an R\T, but it was Go Green with a 340 four-barrel, Pistol-Grip four-speed, Rallye dash, power steering, power disc brakes, power windows, air conditioning, AM/FM thumb wheel radio, three-speaker dash, six-way adjustable leather seats, rear window defogger, road wheels, hood pins on a flat hood, and the special handling package. It is still sitting on a mismatched set of belted tires."

so i think i found out what that means....SPECIAL HANDLING....... PACKAGE

I might be interested as well. The "JUNKYARD DOG" didn't have one and that could be a kool little detail to ad under the hood. PM me if your intersted in selling one to me, include what you would want for it, keeping in mind that I don't really need one.

yeah i thought they would be coold for the guys that are missing their tags, i think i have 5 or 6 of them, i really don't know what they are worth for send my a PM with your offers, maybe i'll let a few of them go...

What about the rest of the tags ? I am missing one for one of my cars. Long shot I know, but you can never stop looking.

The tag for my Duster is long gone (not that it really matters) and I already offered a shiny new QUARTER:edgy:

That tag was NOT for special handling package. It ment special handling on assembly line during build

I kept a tag off a Mopar I scrapped many years ago. "Body In White". I remember reading that a lot of old race cars were sold this way to be modified and finished by Nascar or specialty shops. However this one was from a '75 Dodge C-body.. County Cop car. Guess it had something to do with the paint scheme.
