I don't know if he is a member here, but John Kunkel is a great "go-to" guy for transmission questions.
He once told me that there really is no 3500 stall converter, a 2200 stall, etc. EACH converter will stall at a different RPM in different engines.
Identical converters will stall at different RPMs when used in different engines. A 10" converter may stall at 2200 in a stock slant six, then stall at 2800 behind a Hemi.
That said, a decent 11" converter should stall at 2200 in a fairly stock 340 or 383. The greater the torque and HP, the higher the stall.
I have an 11" 2200-2500 stall converter I bought from Mancini Racing only to find out it only fits 67 and up 727s and not the 727 in my 66 Newport. I paid over 200 for it new...its yours for 60 bucks plus shipping
