Getting ready to start rewiring my 1969 Plymouth RR and was searching for wiring harnesses. What companies have you guys used and did you like their product?

The ones in the Year One catalog are the best.Pricey but the best.

I agree with that! Year One has them made under contract by one specific company called M&H. They are brand new and look like OEM New old stock. If you need it any time in the next 6 months though, you better order it right away. I think they're just under $600, but the wait time when I ordered was backordered for 3 months. Luckily, shortly after I found that out, somebody on FBBO had one un-used for sale that I bought.

Painless is another popular brand. They make good stuff, but it doesn't look like the original and you have to cut some of it to length. If you know how to wire things, Painless is supposed to be pretty straightforward, fairly affordable, and I see a lot of hot rods and resto-mods using Painless wiring.

Ron Francis make harnesses also.

I bought the Ron Francis Access 24/7 Kit. I'm currently installing in a 69 RR.

On The Plus Side...
  • High Quality components
  • Detailed Instructions
  • Good Customer Service

On the minus side...
  • Connectors are more geared toward GM products (No bullet type connectors, No Mopar Steering Column Conn)
  • Makes assumption you will use their Headlight/Dimmer switch (provided).

I have to say I was prepared to replace some connectors, so that's not as much of an issue. They annoying bit has been trying to figure out how to make their wiring match up with Headlight/Dimmer. But I am assuming this would be an issue with almost any kit other than factory style harnesses.

The Access 24/7 kit also has some additional nice features.
1. Magnetic Mounted Fuse block for easy removal. (works nicely)
2. 24 discreet fused circuits.
3. 4 Relays with option to add 3 more
4. 4 "Select-a-circuits" that you can is sign to either bat or ignition by just moving the fuse from 1 slot to another.

All in all, I'm very happy with the kit. It cost me around $500 compared to the factory replacements which totaled around $1200 from Year One.

magnetic fuse block? That's a great idea. I may have to mod my stock style like that somehow.

I personally did not install the wiring in my car, the previous owner did...and he used Keep It Clean Wiring. It is a super high quality kit and all of the wires are labeled as to what they go to which makes things easier for me. After checking out their website the kits are totally customisable (not sure if that is a word) to your needs and they appear to be really well priced. It comes with a modern spade style fuse block complete with modern relays as well.

Yep MH is the best. Fits like a glove and no problems.
Have had problems with a few of the Evans ones but that was a few years back and maybe he has it more together these days.
Painless is ok. Not factory correct like MH. Least the ones I've used weren't.

The nice thing about M&H is that if you ever have a problem with their wiring - The technical support is amazing called me back within 1 hr,,, also had no problem with going over each connection of what everything is for
