Green Envy

You may have some work ahead of ya sir, But what you said, "she is worth saving to me" It will grow to be special to you, I would bet on that. You like it, You have the enthusiasm, and its one of the sleekest looking Charger style's. I mean no disrespect hear, It may not be the S-Bee or R/T but there quite the looker when finished... Good luck in the resto, i hope you will update us with your progress!

Thank You for your kind words. I will be updating as I go a long and I am also keeping a log of what is being done,no matter how small. My next step is to get her inside and up on jackstands.

Poor thing, glad to see your willing to rescue it. its all too often our rare iron is "scrapped" for being to rusty. I always say theres a will and a way

The headlights look to be in good shape. And, um... Nice headlights.

These are the kinds of projects I like to watch, where the rotted parts slowly become good steel and it all comes together. My hat's off to you! Waiting to see your progress.

Glad to know all northern cars have rust and mine is not special. What engine do you plan on installing? I have most of the same rust, Just make sure you treat it all once repaired so it not as likely to happen again. Holy crap that video, DO THE REPAIRS PROPERLY, A proper repair contains NO Bondo, Yes it possible and not really that hard either. Good luck with the car, can't wait to seem more photos

I'll check when I get home again I have the power brake booster also from same car ill throw it in

Hey Reb, bring it over to one of the other members of the CSA here in Texas, bring a 440 that is good, not ****, no cracks, need not be a steel crank or a HP engine, and I'll blast it AND put in self etch for a trade!

What a project! I sure hope you have a very large bank account. From your pictures it looks like you will need it.

When I see cars from " UP NORTH " it makes me so happy I live in Alabama. I admire the determination y'all fellers have up there.

I have a '70 Super-Bee I got from Ohio. I don't think it is as bad as yours appears in the photos, but you can throw a dead cat through it with very little effort. I'm not gonna fix it, I'll use it for parts.

If you get a car from my area you will save yourself a ton in money as most all the bolts nuts and fasteners are able to be reused.

Take a good look at this red Charger of mine. It needs a trunk lid and some repair around the trunk opening but parked beside your green one I think you would see as much difference as night and day. I am not going to fix this Charger I am gonna use some parts from it on my RR. You may need somethings from it as well.

I wish you the best of luck with your project and hope you keep us posted.

I am glad it is a base model coupe and nothing special. So I can get by with a few things to be a good driver and really enjoy it.

My thoughts exactly ours too is a base model so no sence in blowing a ton of cash on repro sheet metal, some of the diehards may disagree [cover ears] but i used whatever sheet metal i could come up with to make all our patches we purchased no sheet metal. So far my duraglass fill in the worst spot is less than an 1/8 of an inch thick just to smooth out the surface as i have said thruout this build this ain't gonna be no show car just a driver for my son to have fun with. OTR you'll get it done it takes time and a resourceful person can make it happen with out goin broke just think things thru and be patent look at mine it's been over a year and i'm only starting final bodywork for primer.

I have to agree. I will be using some sheet metal that has to be replaced and make patches from the good metal left over. Right now it's back in the driveway so I can check the brakes, seems one side is frozen once I get it loose I can push it in and out when needed.

Funny you would say that, ours had a stuck back brake ended up pullin the drum off to move it around, gonna put disk on her with the 8 3/4 install. Our sheetmetal consisted of a gmc truck bedside and fileing cabinet sides, i have become quite the redneck fabricator my son is quite happy with the progress.

I have a 8 1/4 rear now and a 8 3/4 housing from a 66 Charger alog with axles that I have no idea where they care from, but are suppose to be B body also. So there will be some figuring out.

I got a little done this morning while it was cool. My Charger is up on jackstands and the tires off. I was able to get the drivers drum off after 5 minutes of slowly prying it off,it came off nice and clean. But the passenger side drum was a b*tch. It was frozen on and we actually peeled off rust from around the drum. So between me prying with 2 screw drivers and my son hitting the drums it popped off. Drum is fubar. The good part is I was able to turn the pinion by hand the axles moved freely.I am thinking about changing the brakes from 10 in to 11 in since I have to buy new brakes parts any how.

I have a 8 3/4 housing from a 1966 Charger, it seems to be narrower (1/2 in) than the 8 1/4 on my Charger. What is the correct way to measure the housing and axles to make sure it all works?

that rust is likely too bad to even try to fix...look at my GTX thread, all the same level rust was trashed and new metal went in.

b bodies started using wider rear ends in 71 the one you have from the 66 is not wide enough. you can still use the center section if it is a good one though
