How the he11 can you build Ricks Mustang for 15-20k? Stolen parts? Free labor? Ya the shows still on and ya I know it'll be over the budget, but why would you even quote it that low??? TV maybe??

Now he says he's got 22k... man blue ovals done cheap...

Media blasting 1.5k
Crate motor and trans 16K
Interior 5k
paint and body 20K
wheels and tires 2k
brakes
grill
tail lights
exterior chrome
glass
wiring
and so on

Sounds good that they only have 35k in the whole thing but we all know the truth.
Unless you do the work yourself you cannot get a car built for that.

only on tv land :eusa_think:

why all the spin offs?....i dont get it! that dude builds some nice stuff.....but that stang WAS NOT done for 22k....TV drama is all i gotta say about it.

Think about it.....its great, free advertising for Danny "Count".
People watch the show, see what he can do to a rolling basket case for a mere 20K.....pretty soon the baby-boomers and gen-x'ers are beating down his door with their projects on the trailer and checkbooks in hand.
Of course...nobody else will get theirs done as cheap!

Take a look at Barrett-Jackson.....there is plenty of people with more money than time and know-how or want-to.

Just like that british show: Wheeler Dealers...they act like they made a profit on every car...they break down the prices of everything except "LABOR"...

I didn't see the new show, Counting Cars, didn't know it was on already, what day is it on ??, but I could imagine the show producers threw in some cash, to make it a possible build, for $22K, especially if he does all his own work & doesn't farm any out, Rick is a good return customer too, maybe it's at a discounted rate, then maybe it could done, also it's a damn Mustang, just like Camaro's every single piece of sheet metal, trim, grill, interior, nut & bolt/washer/part is reproduced for those things, it's just assembly project if you want, it could cut down on labor costs big time, labor is far more than parts anymore... Like I said, "I haven't seen it yet though", I could very well change my opinions, very fast, just food for thought...

its on tonight.

Dealer Cost.
Pay back for his gig. For the advertising he got out of that, he should have done it for free.
I Did not see the end credits. Were there a list of suppliers?= free parts
Any mfr posters on the shop walls? product placment= free parts
All smart business decisions.
Every one here has an equal oppertunity to do something like that. But equal oppertunitity does not guaranty equal results

It is what it is. nice change from OCC or Boyd Coddinton "we've got three hours to rebuild this %^$#@#$!!!! car" get the $T%$##@@*&!!!! to work"

I liked it a lot more than 'Fast n Loud'. Some of their 'restorations' seemed questionable, at best. Too many (most) of these shows are about doing a car for a quick buck. The guy from Counting Cars seems to have a lot of enthusiasm for cars which I liked. In the show tonight he kept a GTO, despite having a buyer and a good profit, just because he liked it.

First ive heard of this one.. Hope it turns out better then some others..

Don't you just love those shows where they use plasma cutters and migs with bare hands?

Paint it black ..not the stones...kounts cars

What up with painting Chrome **** Black.??.The gas cap on the Mustang was painted Black and the Front and Rear Bumpers and Head light surround on the GTO were painted Black ?..I thought it looked terrible..Rick thinks his Mustang is worth $50K..Now..:eusa_think:.??? How much more and you could have a Real Shelby GT350?? I thought at $12,500 for the base car to start with was way too much to pay for the shape it was in. The best one was the 68 Camaro, buyer never drives it ,only thing he does is sit in it and look at it for a few seconds and 90 seconds later buys it for $33,000 ..Last time I sold a car the buyer spent 90 seconds looking under just the Drivers Seat !!!!! Only on T.V. :icon_fU: What a Joke......Rick

didnt bother to watch fiqured it just like the rest a waste of time ,I think they need to rethink some these shows :angryfire:

They show more of the search & acquisitions than the builds it's hard to tell what they actually spend or do, seem like they are making money, the Count, is buying every thing in-site, a 67 GTO vert $13k had it sold for $30k profit & back out, I didn't care for the black painted trim much, a 68 Manx Dune Buggy $5500, sold for $20k, a 68 SS Camaro $13k, sold it for $35k, he tried to buy a cool 39 Chevy & a few other cars & bikes, that twin mini B&M blown Hemi's 27 Roadster Lowboy was different, not my cup of tea, that tattoo bike was ugly IMO, I'm not a big fan of all the skull stuff, it was quality work just not my style, the 31 Ford with flames removed & Duval windshield was nice $15k on that repaint & interior job, he was making money right & Left, on all of them, except supposedly the 68 Mustang "Bullitt Car" for Rick from Pawn Stars, nice Mustang, he said he was over his $15k-$20k budget, because of the interior, it was messed up ugly 70's style, glued on red valuer, diamond pleated & gross, had to replace all of it, with nice black stock looking interior, he supposedly had $22k in the whole build, sounds somewhat believable & that's what he got, it sounded like...

Well, it is a Mustang. you can build one from a JC Witney catalog. Parts are waayy cheaper than anything Mopar. When Danny looked at the rustang he said all the metal looked good, just surface rust. Later in the show there was a quick glimpse of them installing a full replacement driver side quarter. I got a feeling they don't spend a lot of time block sanding.

The show is OK. No high pressure deadlines. Just Danny and his buddy driving around chasing cars. Living the dream.
