Getting ready to replace the heater core in my 69 bee.looking at the copper lines that run to the firewall - do they need any sealant put on them?it looks like they just slip on to the fittings from the core and the valve.seems too easy.thanks for any help.david

there are two o-rings that seal the tubes to the heater core. I would suggest getting a rebuild kit that includes these orings as well as the other gaskets you will need. Take lots of pics and label the vacuum hoses.

Cuda-thanks for reply.other than the o-rings will I need anything else?it looks like the copper pieces that go to firewall just slip on.i see some silicone on the old core, but nothing else.thanks again or the help.

I am assuming you dont have AC? I rebuilt my whole box while I had it out so I changed all the insulation and gaskets. If you are just replacing the core and leaving the box itself bolted thru the firewall, you should only need the o rings and the rope caulk to seal the box. The inside of the box is insulated so look it over while you have it apart. Mine was in sad shape and all the gaskets were falling apart on the flappers and vent doors.
