Where were you the year your car was born?

the 70 Road Runner is a different story. i took a trip to St. Louis at the age of 5..( it was built in '69 ) and met with the brass at the St. Louis plant and told them that SOMEDAY i was going to buy that purple Road Runner that i saw on the line and told the dudes there to put it together right....or ill be back .

I remember when people really could do that. I grew up near St. Louis and if you ordered a car that was made at one of the plants, you could go see it on the assembly line. You had to make arrangements with the dealer. I'm pretty sure each of the big three plants there did that.

As for where I was in '77, I was 9 years old and in fourth grade. I was probably in school that day learning lots of lessons that I still use these 35 years later.

I was in diapers in 68 only being 2 yrs old probably crawling around eating playdough or on the sit-n-spin.

I was in 6th grade when my '64 Barracuda, was built, 7th for the '65 formula S, and 11th for my '69 RR. All the while defending why I liked Mopars! I was one of the very few that did.

I hear that. My buddy was a rustang guy, my other buddy a chevy guy, my dad a vette guy and my uncle pontiac guy. 20 years later my dad comes to Carlisle Mopar weekend and is in awe of the variety and plain beauty of the cars.:headbang:

Well, I guess my 64 Fury was made the year I started school in 1st grade. The 67 Coronet R/T would have come along in the 4th grade. And believe it or not, I have known the original owners of both of them!

When the 68 Chicken was born, I was 11yrs old living on Eglin AFB in Florida. Then when I was 16 living in Forestville Md ,I bought my first car and first Mopar 65 Barracuda 273 4spd. I rolled that car on the Washington Beltway in 72. Thats when I found my first 68 Roadrunner, which I drove to my last 2 yrs of High School. Had the fastest car on the school lot. Also owned a 70 Dart 6cyl inthe late 70's and a 69 A12 Superbee around the same time. Finally found my HS sweetheart Roadrunner again in 2000.Same options ,not same car. Sure missed that old girl. This one is almost done though, just got to keep busy on it.

kinda sad, I wish I could of been around back then, the stories I've heard!! The car culture in my age group is no where near as cool as it was in the 60's and 70's. Most of my friends ask my why I have such an old car and why I dont sell it and get something newer.. NEVER!!!

In '67 I was entering the USAF (March 21st) to dodge the draft, completed Electronic Tech School at Lowery AFB, Denver in early October, went home to Michigan, got married mid October, and reported to my first duty station in California a week later. Never been the same since!

Interesting. I entered the US Navy spring of 68, was an ETR and got GCA RADAR training. Went to school on the CPN-4, and QUAD RADAR (FPN-36) then sent to Miramar, where we had a hard mount FPN-52
