I just got the Coker Tire 2013 catalog with my Hemmings Motor News. Coker now lists their "Mopar Standard" & "Chrysler Police" steel wheels in 15x4 for $78.00 :wtg:

I've been wanting to do the whole 60's Super Stock / Junior Stock era on my latest wagon but never found a source for proper narrow width front wheels other than one of the wheel company's making a pricey custom set.

By definition this is totally wrong. The standard size wheels from Mopar in the mid 60s for a mid sized car stated as 4.5" X 14" or larger. By the 1966 model year as an example, the 1966 B bodies came standard with a 5" x 14" wheel but the 66 street Hemi equipped cars came standard with the standard police wheels which were 5.5" X 14. There was an option for police cars to upgrade to an optional 6" X 14" wheel.

My reply to the forum expert for the above schooling...DON"T CARE. It's likey called "Racers Hangout" here for a reason.
I've been looking to find a proper 15 x 3.5"-4" steel wheel size for Moroso 7.60 Drag Specials. According to the 2013 Coker catalog they now make that size. The "Mopar Standard" just describes the chrysler style wheel they offer in their catalog.
I am well aware of what came on 60's & 70's Chrysler products in what widths, I have stacks of them.
My wagon is going to be a race only vehicle the way I want it. I could care less what the purists out there think. You try to give a heads up to others and the 'proper restoration' experts have to pipe in.

LOL. No purist here. I am simple stating the FACTS.

Coker now lists their "Mopar Standard" & "Chrysler Police" steel wheels in 15x4 for $78.00 Mopar standard and Chrysler Police. This certainly sounds to me like they are referring to something that WAS that is NOW available again from them to us. It is confusing to others that MAY be looking for something that is factory correct.

Also, I seldom notice what forum the original post comes from as when I log on it automatically brings up "new posts" from all forums.

I understand that YOU are trying to make people aware of a narrow wheel for racing and could care less about resto stuff but you should also be able to see where I am coming from and why I responded to your original post.

I may be interested in the cop car wheels, Thanks for the heads up Wagondoors

For Chriss sake, they are just using the term "standard" to descibe the damn wheel from a rallye, police,or road wheel. You know the 'standard' or 'base model' style wheel that takes a dog dish or full wheel cover instead of one of the up graded wheels listed. Nowhere are they saying these are OEM exact to any year. It's an aftermarket wheel company offering a range of sizes making no claims of "correctness"...PERIOD. Cancel the call to Bob Woodward.

Look I am not dissing on you, just trying to get to the bottom of what you originally posted so myself and others are not confused. Just because you posted in the racers hangout means nothing because there are also a lot of restored to stock appearance cars out there running heavily modified drivetrains (ever hear of F.A.S.T.) that might have an interest in what it appeared you listed in your original post.

Does the catalog show something different then the web site (see attached link) because they show a "hot rod steel wheel" in the size you are talking about. They also show a "Mopar standard" which when you view the details it is available in sizes different than I stated earlier that where actually available from the factory other than one they list which is a 6" X 15. That wheel was available in 68-up. They show NO 14" wheels in this section. There is no mention of "police wheels" which for most Mopar people can mean two different things. 1. the more modern wider wheels with the large holes around the outside or 2. the wider "standard" appearing wheels available on police, Hemi, and later 440 equipped B bodies.

This indicates to me that you think there was an original 4" X 15" steel wheel available in the 60s. There where none available that I am aware of other than in custom wheels and I lived through that time period as a young man and was selling these cars. (see my signature)

Not dissing me? Okay...then more like "No good deed goes unpunished":black_eye:

1- I have the new hot off the press Coker Tire 2013 catalog in front of me.

2-It appears they have not updated their website, I looked.

3-No, I did not indicate Chrysler EVER made a 15x4.(this was an assumption by you, somehow reading between the lines) By using the term "proper", a front drag tire uses a 15x3.5" - 15x4" that is the "proper" size wheel for that tire, that's why I mentioned pricey custom ones made, (generally from VW or space saver hoops).

Are you getting it yet??

Okay...No No wait, let me be perfectly clear....Coker now offers a 15x4 wheel that was NEVER made, or offered to the public, or even slipped out the back door by Chrysler. The CENTER looks just like the base model wheel that comes on a Chrysler product. Now there are variations of this wheel center over the years so please don't think this is the ONLY style base wheel center that Chrysler had made by their vendors. If you are building a drag car and don't want a Weld, Centerline, Cragar S/S, etc. but want a steel wheel Chrysler NEVER made and want it to be a "proper" sized wheel to use a front runner drag tire, the NEVER made/offered by Chrysler 15x4 steel wheel can now be bought from Coker tire.

Is this clear enough?

My God, all I wanted to do was give a heads up to anyone looking for this size wheel. It has come up in the past people wanting that size steel wheel for drag and street cars. You seem to be making a lot out of nothing. Or perhaps this is your opportunity to flex your Chrysler OEM wheel trivia.

DONE!

Simple misunderstanding between two fine mopar guys. Thanks for the info both of you. Hey, are these similar in look to the H wheels on an A12? I'm setting my 69 belvedere up for racing and was thinking i could use a narrower wheel but want to stay w the A12 look, so would those be close?

Yes, except that they of course will not have the deeper dish that the A12 6" wide wheels will have.

I agree it's like a marriage, lol. It's a site for fun and enjoyment, not an anger management site.
