I'm looking to buy. My daily driver has took a dump. I really want a truck. I'm sick of begging my friends for use of their trucks.

What I want to know is this a good buy? Was there any bad things about these trucks?

I've been searching the web for info, but I'm looking to get in a vehicle today. I need transportation!! I drive 30 minutes to work and 30 minutes back everyday. Can't afford 2013's. Wish I could, but its not happening.

I want power. Something I can tow with and quad cab. This seams to have all the bases covered. ANY THOUGHT'S????

I was just on a site www.AutaBuy.com looking for other stuff, there were 2 ;) 2005 Ram 1500 Daytona Special Edition Pick ups 1 ;) silver/black for $8500 & 1 ;) yellow/black SLT for $18,500 I didn't look into them much, to know mileage, options or anything else....

Just go to Kelley Blue Book
Type in the vehicle info
Get:
1. Reatail pricing
2. Wholesale priing
3. Trade in value

And if you wish to look at available market in surronding area...go to:
Carsdirect.com

PS: I bought a new pickup truck thru CarsDirect.com.
Best deal I had ever recieved!
When you purchase new from CarsDirect you bypass the salesperson. You purchase the vehicle at FLEET Price.

Don't want to step on anyone's toes, but here's my #1 rule. Don't ever buy a new vehicle. Buy used. No reason to pay for depreciation when most newer vehicles will run 200K miles with few problems. Tons of great used cars/trucks out there.

I think the price is a bit steep for an 05. I bought basically the exact same truck but an 04 model 2 years ago with 83k on it for 15k I would think 2 years down the road 12-13k would be about top for me on that truck.

As far as what to look for, they are pretty reliable. I had to replace both front wheel bearings between 90-100k. Check for any under-body rust. I have some surface rust starting in places and the number one spot is above the rear wheel but that's usually from the inside out which is hard to check. Other then that make sure the seats are in good shape, the center console is not torn and you are ready to rock.

I looked at that ad you linked to. It looks like a truck with hood scoop to me. Every Daytona I've ever seen (a few around here) have the stripe and wing, like this:

it is a really Daytona, some dumb *** took off the wing and graphic

well that's what the dealership says.

Why the hell would someone not like that wing and graphic?? This truck looks tits..ram daytona.jpg

I actually think the wing is really really bad...very poor taste looks like a 4wd bastardized superbird. I like the look of the hemi sport package myself...though I might be biased:icon_fU:

hey to each their own. I'm not gonna blast ya for speaking ur mind. My girl friend thinks it looks getto. I just like it because it would be the closest thing to a wing car ( that I'll ever be to owning one). Hell these trucks mite be collectible some day. But either way it's unique and will look cool hauling my old mopars around.:headbang:

Haha they do look good towing an old mopar...ask me how I know. But you are correct to each their own.

So you have a story or pics? I'm intrigued.:happy1:

Well I can't find my photo of the truck and car together (its at home on a flash drive and I am at work presently) but I towed home a 66 Coronet from Iowa to Indiana with my 04. I got lots of looks and passed quite a few people with the cruise set at 70. Don't expect super awesome diesel mileage when towing though...12 empty (2300 lbs) 11 loaded (5xxx lbs)

If you search through enough of my posts from around a year ago i bet you can find one of them both together since I remember posting it.

Great truck, that's my daily driver. Mine similar to the pic fatecaptured posted. Although mine is not a 4x4. You get a couple of nice extras with the Daytona package besides the color, the grapic and the wing. It comes with a Borla exhaust that sounds great. As for the wing. I love the wing on the truck. Sadly if you want to use it as a truck it's a major pain in the a$$. It bolts on so removal is a bit of a chore. Mine hasn't been on for some time. It rides great, has nice power and a great exhaust note. Overall it's a great truck and I've owned mine since new. The price does seem a bit on the high side. If it comes with the towing package it will make a nice truck to tow mopars with.

good luck!!!!

Thanks to all the comments on this thread. The truck is in the driveway...:sSig_thanks:

Oh you bought it! Congrats, and I hope you get lots of use and enjoyment from it.

Kelly blue book for this truck was 16.5k, they came down to 15.5 . I have little to no credit. Always saved $ and bought with cash since my divorce in '05. So with $ down and a warranty, my payments are around $250 month. Yeah I hope it treats me well. $96 to fill it today.. gotta use 89 octane for hemi's.
