Its time

If it has the original motor than keep it so...you can build a 500hp 383 on a budget.

The car is worth more if it's kept as stock as possible.....nice ride by the way.

Original motor and tranny are long gone, wish it wasnt. Got a 440 already so Ill prob just stroke it out and run it. Progress has been to a crawl latley, to many other projects that are acutaly making money instead of draining me of it. Hopefully I'll be back on her in the next few weeks

440 STROKER....Nice.

Well one thing at a time and it will get done eventually.......it's yours forever and that's the sweet part.

Yeah its gonna be slow going for a while due to the upcoming wedding in Sept. She will be holding my funds hostage for the next few months so im just working on the stuff that doesnt cost to much for now.

Got the front and rear glass cut out today and the dash pulled but thats about it for a update for now.

Well got a little time to work on the Bird this weekend got the cancer removed from the front of the rear wheel opening and started cuttin away at the rear lower quarter to do repairs on outer wheelhouse. Any one used the lower rear patch panels from AMD, im curious at to how good they fit? Also got the front and rear glass out to show more cancer on the lower rear window frame which was expected. Next thing is to pull the dash now that the windshield is out. Anyway not much progress but shes coming along.

Wow 11 pages deep to find it but that’s what I get for not posting in almost a year. Well it was slow going for quite some time with months going by with no time to work on her but we are back on course and plugging away. Well since the last post I have stripped it down to only a shell and started stripping paint and prepping for primer. The wife was gracious enough to buy all my sheet metal for x-mas so I have started prepping to repair the rear quarter sections, rear window corners, and install the 4 speed hump. Had a nasty crease in the quarter so I have started to beat it out, slowly but surely it’s coming out. Well not much of an update but will have more to follow. Im still kinda trying to find a process to all the madness, so much to do and and trying to figure out where to start. Also built some rolling stands to move it around the shop, is it ok to attach to the rear section as I have it in the picture.

YES !!! Build it as a driver, and you will have more fun. I made a big mistake and did a good restoration on mine and I was always concerned for the 69 RR while it was in the parking lots. Finally I sold it to "The Mopar Nationals" , and they used it as a Grand Prize Give Away Car in 1992. I have always wondered where that car is today. B5 Blue / black vinel top / blue interior. Last seen in Akron , Ohio. Maybe in Canada now.

only thing to watch for on the stands is hitting something while you are rolling it.if the stands are not attached to each other(cant see the bottoms)they can fold under fairly easy and cause monster damage.project is looking great so far.keep it up!

Yeah I got a cross brace across the bottom and some x bracing, just didn't know if it would sag over time

Haven't seen this thread in a while. Glad to see you're still making progress on it.

Well still been plugging away on the bird. I got the patch panel in on the rear quarter and even though I went extremely slow to avoid warping I warped the top side of the quarter. It is oil-canning and im not sure if I need to shrink or stretch any help would be great. When I push in on the pink circle the pink "X" pops out and suggestions as how to approach fixing this. Sorry for the crappy picture

Heat up the circle with a torch and then hit it with a cold wet rag to shrink it. Youtube it to see exactly how. Nice project by the way. glad you were able to keep that runner in the family.

Well I have been reading every build on this forum over and over again for some time now while I have been working on mine (gaining knowledge) and figured I should share my adventure just as many of you have shared yours with me.

History: My ol man bought this 69 RR when he was 16 drove it like he stole until of a friend of his blew the original 383 about 35 years ago. It sat next to the house for about 10 years until he build a garage around it and sat there until June of this year when it was finally mine.

Plan: Build it as a driver just like she always was and see the ol man re-live some of the story’s he has told over the years about the hell he raised in it.

Pics show the progress I have made thus far (date stamp on the camera is off) but this is how far I have gotten in the past few months. It will be a build as money allows and planning to do everything I can in my own shop to save costs and keep progress going.

Just went thru the thread cool story & nice work bringing back the ol man's car...
