Does anyone have pictures of the back seat area on a 66 or 67 charger that has the buddy seat option? I'm wondering how the factory finished out that area if the car didn't have the full length console.

I came across some 66 rear seats, and I thought it would be cool to add them to my 67 belvedere 4 door, but I don't have the full length console. I plan on buckets and a standard console for the front and am just trying to figure out how to finish out the area between the rear buckets.

Any pictures would be helpful.

Thanks

The 66/67 Charger buddy seat is basically a flip over padded arm that sits on top of the console between the seats ( front & rear seats.) There is factory welded in vertical mounting plates for the rear seat console/buddy seat. The console bolts to the vertical plates and the buddy seat bolts to the console.

First to avoid confusion for all I believe you are referring to an arm rest not a buddy seat. A buddy seat became an option on B bodies in 1967 including the Charger that for 67 the console became an option and the auto trans shifter was now standard on the column. The buddy seat was that and doubles as an arm rest in the down position.

The 1966 Charger has the full length console standard and has the arm rest pad in the front and an arm rest pad in the rear that folds forward to fill the flat fold down area with the rear buckets for cargo area

The difference for 67 in the console is that it does not run front to back as it does in 66. This was done so rear passengers could exist from either side. Other than this missing section all else is the same and the 67 still has the fold forward arm rest as seen in the link below from the 67 Dealer Data Book.

Buddy seat is basically the spot between the driver/passenger in the front, the arm rest flips up and lo and behold there's a seat there!

Yes, and NOT to be confused with the arm rest that is on the front of the console. If your sweetheart sits on it, will crack your console body. That is why so many of the original console bodies are cracked from back in the day.

67 Charger rear- the arm rest/flip down floor extension is about 1/2 as long as the pic that was posted.

Google it. and you should find a pic.

IIRC ALL 66 had full length, only 67 had partial- so google "67 Charger rear seat".

I thought I had pics of the rear fold down arm rest that he's looking for, but I don't.

Converting a regular "B" body car to a Charger bucket style rear seat and center arm rest is not a task to be taken on lightly. First off, the floor plan is not the same as the Charger, plus, yer gonna have to find all the little interior pieces to make it work, and finding interior pieces for a 66 or 67 Charger is next to impossible

Here's a pic of the back seats in my '67. You can see part of the buddy seat there too. There are quite a few differences 66-67 in this area.

By the way- those seats pivot in the package tray sort of section in the middle, so do that swap, you'd need to rig something up or cut up the tray from a Charger, I guess.

here is the front "buddy seat" or fold down arm rest as it's called....not available in 66 cars

Thanks for the pictures and feedback everyone. I do have the metal pan piece from a 66 charger that bridges the differential hump area and provides the center hinge pivot. I'm not sure how the outside pivot for the rear seats work. I wasn't really thinking about having the seats pivot or having the trunk area open to the passenger compartment....I was just going to install the seats (permanently) and create some kind of rear seat center console.

I'm not too stuck on doing this, but thought since I had the parts it would be unique.
