Bought these headers years ago when I bought another car. Going to try and put them on my RR. Can anyone tell me who made these. If it helps, they are black with the 3 bolt flange. Just curious cause they look like they will fit tight when I get them on my car. Should I leave the wrap on?

Yeah I aint a big fan of header wrap either. They could be anything. Maybe if you unwrap them you can find a brand name or part number.

I am guessing from the bends, hooker... However unwrap them! I am now curious!

All right, that's pretty damn funny up there.

My vote is Hooker comps.

Thanks for the replies. And Richard, thanks for the photo comparison. Will take the wrap off later today after I run some errands which includes taking giving some money to my daughter so she can get her hair done for her prom tomorrow night. Will see if I can find a brand or part number.

Took the wrap off and there is a badge that says HOOKER COMPETITION. Short of ceramic coating, can I use high temp paint to make them look good again ,and what temp rating should I get? 1500- 2000 degree or higher?

The best I've found is VHT header paint. Comes in various colors and is sold by most major parts stores. Cures fast and stays on well. Bead blasting them first and wiping down with Prep-Sol or some other grease and oil remover will help to get you an A-1 job.

Yup. But be aware, there's two kinds of VHT high temp paint. What you need goes to 2000 degrees. It has FLAME PROOF written right on the label. I would get the primer too. It also says FLAME PROOF and goes to 2000 degrees as well. It's kinda high for spray paint, but well worth it. If you cannot find it locally, Summit carries it.

If you have a John Deere dealer close go get some Deere Muffler Black. Best high temp paint I've found.
Sand them down to metal, wipe them down with some waxand grease remover and spray.

Thanks Dave and Rusty, that's what I was looking for. The highest I can find around here is 1200. Will be giving Summit a call.

FWIW, sand them if you want, but if you really want the job to last as long as possible, blast them.

Do you know what it's rated at?

Don't have a clue. I use it on manifolds and exhaust pipes of tractors, when worked hard the manifolds get red on the 2 cylinder gas tractors. Also use it on headers, snowmobile exhaust pipes. Only high temp to use in my opinion.

Picked up 2 cans of primer and 2 cans of satin black in VHT flame proof header paint. So I will give that a try and see how they turn out.

Maybe someday Jegs will carry something besides Chevy and Ford parts. The new Pro Stocker of Jeg Jr. is giving me hope. We'll see...
