What do you call your clone?

A while ago I was going to buy a factory big block 4 speed Satellite once, and had planned to call it "stealth runner", and put blacked out RR bird emblems on it.

Tomorrow, I'm going to look at a 74 cop 400-4, sway bar etc (cop engine, cop suspension et al) 4 door Satellite.

Since it's basically a 4 door Road Runner, and It's brown, I thought Coyote badging would be appropriate.

I had Super Bee emblems on my 67 Coronet (PO put them on), and I was thinking about putting 273 4 barrel emblems on my 66 while I have the small block in it.

Ideas like this are way cool. Far better than trying to pass something off for something that it's not.

(BTW rsd, they don't look exactly the same, the Vins are just a wee bit different.)

If you want a Roadrunner so bad why not just go find a Roadrunner.

i call mine the superbird

What do I call our clone? It's "The Wife's car"....and if you say anything negative towards it, she will knock you into the middle of next week.

Bryan (just thought to warn you guys that have nothing nice to say about it)

Well there is a news flash! The vin is different, but yet the body looks the same. When I go to a car show I'm not looking at the fu@&$%g vin number. Dart or duster, satty, or RR, cuda or challenger they are all Mopars and I love them all. Im more than happy with what I have and if you don't like my clone then don't look at it.

Yes because guys like you like the idea of owning a Roadrunner more than actually owning a Roadrunner. You care more about what people think of you than you do purity of machine. I don't have a problem with guys like you cloning, or building a "tribute" car or whatever other term you want to use. Just don't lie about it.

It's all about the ride for me, I'm not here to bash on people. I'm here to learn and have a good time, tell some stories and help other Mopar freaks out if I can. I do the best with what I have and within my budget. Most Mopar guys are the same way. I'm done with this thread.

If you're referring to my blow-up doll of Jennifer Love Hewitt, I call her "Honey".

I've stripped, cut up, welded on and modified a 67 Satellite within an inch of it's life. If I put GTX emblems on it I'd probably get slapped across the mouth by many of you guys at a car show. And I'm not saying I wouldn't deserve it - especially if I had done it to a *real* GTX.

What will I call it? Satellite. And proud of it.

I am thinking of converting my GTX into a Satellite sleeper just to confuse folks. Six figure clones have kind of taken the insult out of calling a car a clone,

My goal is to ruin any chance of a Satellite ever being mistaken for a sleeper anymore. LOL

Damn right Flys, as you should be.

I see it as my chance to play design engineer and marketing VP.

What if they'd have offered a 273-4 in a 66 Coronet? (why didn't they?)

What if they'd have offered an "appearance package" for a 400-4 Satellite 4 door?

exactly , and why not a 1977 dodge charger RT/SE ? big brakes , sway bars , 440 magnum, 4 speed , dana , badges , rallye gauges , buckets / console , scoops, wings , stripes , black out treatment , sport mirrors , rallye wheels ...... ..... ... . .oh hell , I will just build one

most clone cars do not fit the true definition of a clone
that is
a identical copy of a original.

most fall short on some or alot of the details..
so i call most of them
clown cars!

I call mine a badass Charger "as they all are". I don't give two #^*@'s about what anybody says about my car or it's vin, it's mine and built exactly the way I want. For all of you cloners "more power to ya" not all of us can afford a RT, Hemi car, or a 440 6 RR "so what do we do" we make our own not because we are fraudulent but because we love a car we can't afford so if someone has a problem with it "piss off". Now, I would never call it something it wasn't or try and pass it off as a more desirable car that's why when searching for a Charger I wanted a 318 car. Nothing I've done to mine is to copy anything else, shaker hood (never offered on a Charger), 451CI (never available) and the paint is a one off job as well. I will be putting a Super Bee stripe on it with my own graphic instead of the Bee "why" because I love the Super Bee stripe. No offense to all you purist, I don't have a problem with the high dollar originals I just get tired of people ragging on us poor folk for enjoying our cars the way we see fit.
