1966 Coronet 440 field find

Wow !! you have been a busy man and seems like enjoying your time
Looking geeerrrate gdrill Some mighty fine metal work and just what did you do with the /6 you pulled out ? I may have missed what power plant is going in it so I will go back and look at a couple more pages as soon as I let Buddy run a bit and eat breakfast ... some great work going on here in this thread

Thanx all you guys, you are great motivators! Well the passenger fender is sealed and it is darn near flawless! My prepper remembered to use a tack rag this time. Huge difference. Arkansas, yes I've been busy! This is where I've been hiding. I will be putting a 383 / 727 in it. The /6 went to a friend's Mopar part stash. Thanx for checking in and again welcome to FBBO.

Everything is coming along very nicely. I am very impressed! Thank you for allowing us all to come along for the ride. I really love 66 b-body cars and am excited to see another coming back from the dead.

Thank you Jeremiah. Really I thank all you guys for the ongoing comments and support.
Today was swap meet day. Of course I had to spend some money. I found a set of console mounts and some excellent tail lights with quarter extensions. Mine are quite rough so this is a very nice addition to the collection. But then I made a decision that I have been thinking about for a while. I am going to go with a 66 grill as opposed to changing to a 67. There are several reasons I was going to change, mainly because my 66 bumper is junk and I have a great 67. But I also like the crossbar on the 67 grill that I purchased over the plain 66 that came with my car. But today I found an excellent 66 Coronet 500 grill. It has couple dents, but very little corrosion. And the little mounts that go into the fender were actually removed properly as opposed to being ripped off. With the black out it resembles the crossbar. Besides that, I hung a 66 on the wall and it has really grown on me over the last few months! It is in pretty good shape too, but is quite rough with corrosion. So unless I come across a 66 bumper, I may have a 67 on my car. Who knows, maybe the extra lights would look OK.
On another note, I now have several sets, probably 4, of 66 signal lights if anybody needs some!

Now a question. The guy had two sets of console mounts. One set had three pieces and the other four. Obviously I bought the four pieces. What is the fourth piece. I have a thread bookmarked showing the mounting measurements, but it only shows three pieces. Any help appreciated.

I started working on the driver's door. I scraped all of the factory sound deadener out of the inside. I will be putting a product similar to Dynomat in later. It has two little creases below the handle, two very small door dings and a bit of an early repair at the front top. Also two of the holes for the chrome trim along the top were off centered so I welded them in and moved them to the proper position. Again I used short strand fiber to cover my welds on the molding holes.

I primed the first door today. I'm pretty happy with it, but I did get a run. Fortunately it is on the inside in the jam area so fixing it won't be so critical.

I think you've got an extra piece of the welded bracket on the back of the middle of the 3 support brackets. The third piece from the left in your photo above appears to be the duplicate.

WOW . . . lot of really nice work going on here in this thread ! ! Great job - hope my work can turn out at least that good - I'll be really happy ! !

Keep it up - thanks for the updates . . .

Yes you are correct. But there is a difference, the one that is cut off is actually quite a bit shorter than the good one. Now I have to find a measurement of the height and make sure it is correct before I weld them in!

Thanx, but I'm sure yours will be at least this good! I've snooped through your build and you are doing some really cool stuff.

Thanx Tallhair. I am trying to get a bunch done before I have to take off for work. I just scraped the inside of the passenger door and put a coat of paint in it. This should help the dynomat stick better. Good thing this stuff doesn't stick as good as the stuff on the outside! It actually scrapes out quite easily.

The easy side done!

Painted and shiny!

X2, things like that aren't easy to come by in that shape. Bodywork is looking great.

Nice score with the tail lights!Very nice condition.:icon_cheers:

Thanx guys. I was very exited to get them. The guy was awesome. He gave me a smokin' deal, $100 for the set! Of course it helped that I was buying all the other stuff from him too. I will be passing this good fortune on when I am done my build and selling off all the extra parts I have acquired. I believe in Karma and paying it forward.

I need a trunk o. Got an extra one?

Here's a pic of the brackets still on the trans tunnel for my 66 WP23, just let me know if you need any measurements!

Thanx jlukas. That is a great pic for reference. I need to fab up the bucket seat re-enforcement plates and the hole for the linkage is good to see as well. If this is still accessible, I wouldn't mind a measurement from the top of the shifter mount down to the console mounting plate. I'm hoping mine is the right height.

I sanded down the passenger door today. The paint shows all the low spots. I tapped them a bit and then ground them out and put some putty on. It's damn near midnight and I just put the gun away. I wanted to get this door sprayed today. That puts me at two fenders and two doors in primer. I think next is to spray some high fill and block them out.
