Found a new calling - car show DJ!

Mid-Ohio Mopars had an indoor/outdoor swap meet this weekend. They were looking at hiring a DJ to play music and make announcements. I am a club member and have a PA system for a big band I play in, so I volunteered to bring my stuff and give a try at handling the tunes and announcements, saving the club $$$$. I plugged my garage system CD changer into the PA (Samson 120 wpc powered stereo mixer with Peavey 10" monitors, the mixer feeding the 500 wpc QSC amp powering the 15" Peavey mains). I am personally tired of hearing just 50s tunes at car shows so had a mix that went to the 80s: Beach Boys, Patti Smith, B-52s (had to play Love Shack 'cause of the Chrysler reference), Little Feat, Eric Clapton, Jan and Dean, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Golden Earring, Joe Walsh, Troggs, Chicago, etc. I flubbed some of the announcements but got better as the day went on. The vendors loved us giving them regular plugs. Got a lot of positive comments about the music mix and somebody actually asked me for my business card! Shout out to my brother Chris (also FBBO member) who worked my breaks on Saturday and ran the whole enchilada Sunday and brought it home for me as I had other commitments.

I play in three bands right now and sometimes rehearse three nights a week. If I tried to do this as a regular weekend gig, I would lose my shirt. It's called DIVORCE! :rolling:

better you than me good luck with all ,:headbang:

Greg i thought you both done a good job from when i was not busy talking and selling.
I went up to the booth on Sun to talk and say hi and introduce myself after i put 2+2 together but your brother (the better looking one as he calls himself) said you had something to do.
But i did get to buy some of your key cylinders from ya if you can remember me as i was always getting the wave from my wife or my son calling me over for questions people was asking.
But both of you done great job.

Thanks for the nice words. You bought the five or six to take apart and work on - yeah, I remember! Which vendor were you???

sounds like fun & it worked out well, good luck with your new venture
