Found a new project. Ram D250

Had good, cold air on the ride home today. Sniffed for leaks and all the fittings and ports were negative. The listed r12 charge on the underhood label is 40oz, 80% of which is 32oz. So I hooked the gauges up and added a 12oz can to bring it to 30oz total. It seems to be working fine.

And here is my homemade battery hold down made from an old bed frame.

I guess I'm done under the hood.

I picked up door seals for $15/ea at Rockauto and they fit perfectly.

If you can source new seals for the vent windows, make sure to post where you find them! I got seals for my Ramcharger from LMC but I could not find them for the vent windows anywhere on the internet and none of the chain stores had anything either.

$77 to stop the whistling lol. My passenger side is fine, a little whistle from the driver side.

I would replace the vent wing seals as a last resort, the aftermarket doesn’t seal like oem.
You can tighten the locks on them by driving this tiny pin out, pull the lock off the shaft and there’s a Phillips screw you can tighten.

My driver side whistles a bit at the front bend in the frame. If I press it in while driving, the whistling stops. I cleaned the rubber up with fluid film and thought about wiping it down with something that would soften and swell the rubber even more, like ATF.

That would take the carboard out lol, but especially my drivers side vent window the seal is pretty pancaked out. Whoever had the truck before me must have liked using them as much as I do.

I fixed the sill plate screw holes. Like any screw going into sheetmetal, they get wallered out. So I installed nutcerts and new stainless screws.

I replaced the fuel pump/sender because the sender was erratic and showing incorrect fuel levels. Super easy with the access panel.

Keep the tank over half full. Seems that era of trucks and pump style is prone to cavitation if the fuel level gets low and it quickly damages their performance. I learned that the hard way on my Dakota.

I generally do, but I want to run this tank low to see if the gauge is accurate.

I also ordered new armrests from Vans and they are spot on perfect. I did have to vinyl paint them to match.

The original ones are pulling apart. And with the new door seals, you have to pull harder than normal to close the doors. I picked up the pair for about $89 shipped.

And for the wind whistling, I found that a majority of the noise is from the top window channel gaskets. The windows have some wiggle when rolled up so I ordered new channel replacements from RockAuto.

And I switched out the o2 sensor. The one that was in there was the one on the 5.2l that had oily plugs. I wasn't sure if it was damaged by the oil but the replacement was inexpensive enough.
