OK, I have a 'race weight' fiberglass hood for my 65 Belvedere. Any suggestions for the best location (and number) for installing hood pins? I will be adding a 65 Hemi scoop to this hood before I install it and I don't want it blowing off or breaking from air pressure. I prefer to use hood pins instead of Dzus fasteners for a more period look.
Any suggestions are welcome.

Interesting...Actually, Dzus fasteners were very period correct in the mid to late 60s. By saying this, and having had them on my race car back then, I guess I am really dating myself...lol; but, having said that, go with the look you like.

What?....Really?

I used pins. Search for this thread .

On my 63 Sport Fury I got a deal on this glass race hood so I bought it. Its a light hood so its not a street hood. I use 2 pins in the front and 3 across the back with 2 in the center on the sides. You cant see the one in the center in the rear behind the scoop in this pic. My brother uses a pin in the center on the front of his 64 Fury's glass hood but I only use one on each side up front as I dont need one in the middle. I have no hood lift in the middle and I trap about 125 mph at 10.70's and have no hood lift with the seven pins I use. Ron

You can atleast see the 3 back pins and where they are in this pic without the hood. Cant see the front and only one of the side pins but I hope it helps you. I think your 65 would be about the same. Ron

Thank you very much as I appreciate that. And I must say I really like your taste in Mopars also as you also drive one very sweet red 63 that is definetly my all time favorite convert Mopar of all time !!! Thanks and enjoy driving that cool 63 as I do. Wish we lived close enough to cruise together. I think its only one other 63 Plymouth here in Md that cruises the roads here and he does not bring it out much so its rare to see two 63 Plymouths cruise together here in Md. Ron

Hey, if the price of gas keeps going down, who knows? The trick would be to talk my wife into a cross country trip again. She wasn't too keen on it the first time and that was in a Nissan Murano. Let's see, gas at $3.80/gal, +-10mpg, and....how far is it from CA to Md? lol. Now that the temperature has dropped under 100* the top gets dropped a lot.
Keep on motoring.

Not $3.80 everywhere. Just got back from a round trip, Boise to St Louis & back. Gas ran from $3.70(Idaho) to $3.02 St Louis. My brother said his town,30 miles further south of StL , had $2.98.
