Interesting how the tone on this topic, especially on this forum, is slowly swinging the legalization direction. Crane operators, oil patch workers, truckers and just about everybody else has been doing it for years but now we hear the argument that it's wrong because you don't want to work around those people.

News flash, you have been working around these people for a long time, you were just too stupid to realize it.

Meanwhile here in Colorado we're struggling with how to spend the $150 million in added revenue and worried about the projection of $280 million for next year. Much of it from out of state. Make hay while it's tall.

Save it or spend it wisely. With more and more States legalizing it, why travel when you can stay in home state and enjoy. Kind of reminds me of when legal casinos were the new thing. For the first few years they couldn't count the money fast enough. Now they are closing them down due to casinos being everywhere.

When you say things like this your talking about a small number of people that maybe affected by one individuals mis-stake because they are under the influence, correct? That person who was high and didn't hurt anyone on the job seems to be ok, but once there's an accident and someones under the influence then there's a problem. Why didn't anyone speak up?
Now its in the nations capital openly, affecting millions of lives, possibly positively and possibly negative. "Oops, I'm sorry I meant lunch not launch". The plus side is the possibilty of a federal tax doing good things. What's the other side of that coin?

Kids w epilepsy do well with it.
Lets give D.C. the freedom of recreational use while they make national decisions that may have global effects, all behind closed doors. hmmm...

Those who do, always have, those who don't, won't. Colorado and Washington were smart in that they took the step first and will reap the benefits early. Everyone else will be playing catch up.

Barn do you realy think because it's legalized in DC that our decision makers will now all of a sudden start getting baked? Do you really think all the decision makers reside in DC? With all due respect, that's a pretty naive view if that's really what you think. The politicians that do toke, always have. More of them are alcoholics and always have been but I don't hear you stressing over that.

If I came across that way I can tell you I'm not. The point I'm attempting to get across (poorly) a politician that currently does toke up, keeps it under tight wraps. Now that its recreational and open people tend to get looser with it(like the crane operator). Couple this with a position of power and it becomes extremely volatile. Add in this position of power, extreme circumstances where accurate and timely decisions are critical. This becomes the stage for an individual who's under the influence (from partying the prior evening/ am), be it alcohol or pot or??? to make the poor choice. I think that some leaders (not all) who haven't tried it in the past maybe more apt to indulge just because its legal, some wont do it because it is illegal. Along the same lines as the operator who's been doing it, and no one says anything until something goes bad. its just a larger scale f-up. I don't think all that do indulge are bad or going to make a poor choice that's in the person's character. Also on these folks who do indulge with or without the law. Why would they buy from a govt. store when once its in your hands, who's going to know where you purchased it from? Its the same as alcohol in that respect, and the govt. trying to regulate it. People are still going to buy illegally from a dealer to avoid tax. Moonshine is still around today. If that's a naive view then so be it. I truly mean no disrespect towards you.
