Exhaust manifold gaskets

I usually keep the silver side against the manifold, but is there actually a block & manifold side to these Felpro gaskets?

Curious minds must know what others are doing.

Found this Felpro instruction. Sounds to me your doing it right.

"If you examine one of these gaskets, you'll see that one side is a fiber material and the other is steel. Just remember to install the steel side toward the manifold and the fiber side toward the engine block. This allows the exhaust manifold to slide along the steel surface during expansion and contraction without damaging the gasket."

This is correct. ^^^^
 
don't know if this means anything to you but factory cast manifolds didn't come with head to manifold gaskets. i don't use them.
 
Yep, steel side to manifold as a general rule on all the old stuff.
