What was the factory redline for 1970 Hemi and 440 motors?

It looks on the videos I have seen (of the Superbird) that the factory installed tachometer redline was only 5000 rpm. That seems a little low to me. What was the actual maximum recommended redline for the 1970/71 HP big blocks?

I've got a 70 (May 69) 426 standard bore STOCK Hemi
I was comfortable on the Dyno at 5,450 RPM....

I'm guessing the the same tach was used in both cars and not matched to a engine. I would not be afraid to spin a stock hemi or 440 to 5500. My stock 383 (headers & intake) 69 RR I used to spin to 6000 all the time.

peak power rating for a 440hp 4bbl was at 4600rpm. they're not rpm engines.

440. Warmed up. Stopped pulling at 4850 on chassis dyno. All in the basement, where I like it. God Bless over 500 torque.

440 with a 6-pak, stock exhaust manifolds, stockish cam pulled 327hp@4300rpm at the rear wheels. power went flat from 4300rpm to 5300rpm where the engine fell off a cliff. same engine ran low 13's at 106-108mph in a 4050lb, 3.23, automatic 69 b-body. the chassis dyno is the true lie detector.

Most 440 builds I see in the mags and online the pulling stops around 5500-6000 on real modded motors. So I would think most would max out at 5k be best around what Dennis said 4500-4800? No junk in that Trunk! lmao

I have taken my 493 to 6k and it didn't even blink, tried 6300 and you could tell it was near the top(6500?). I set my tach red line at 5000 to be safe. MSD chip at 8k though lmao don't want no ignition cut out that's embarrassing.

I am a little surprised at the low power peaks, I guess in part because my radical 273 was shifted at 6000 rpm and was still pulling hard through the traps at 6400 rpm.

my 440 peaks at 6000/6100 550 hp

I generally ignored the factory tach redlines but iirc, my 70 440 Challenger was 5000 where the yellow started and 6500 where the red started but factory tachs were usually not that accurate. By 5500 it was usually pretty much at the end of it's pulling power with stock manifolds and patched up exhaust pipes. With 100k miles it ran 14.20 with 3.91 gears and bald Good Year GT radials (255-60 iirc). A buddy and I were running a 318 Demon turning 6200 with a 115k mile stock bottom end with decent heads, cam etc and running 13.50. Another buddy with a 440 powered Dart that was running about the same ET couldn't believe it lol.

Well, that is believable after seeing my 1965 four door Valiant 273 (.060 over) post a best E.T. of 12.72 at 108 mph (street legal but uncapped and 10" slicks).
