Will this fit......66 Belvedere and 67 GTX

I am consistently upgrading my 66 Belvedere II and want to change the existing gas cap to a flip cap as seen on several 67 GTX and other cars. I see that Year One offers one for the 67 GTX, but was curious if that would fit on my 66 Belvedere. It looks as if it will work, just needed to see if anyone has experiences in this area or could comment on the idea.

If you now long have the side chrome should fit ok.

I just put a flip top on my 67 wagon.

If you do have the mid body molding, it will interfere with the aluminum surround plate.

The actual cap is really easy to find new or used.
Used on GTX as well as all 67 Barracudas.

The surround, cap to body bracket and rubber grommet that seals the backing plate to the filler tube is a totally different story.
Used ONLY on 67 GTX. Expect to pay at least $200 for just these three parts.

The cap will not work without at least the bracket and the grommet, and there will be an ugly gap if the backing plate is not used.

BTW- if you are concerned about the factory "anti-theft" screws for the bracket, the are the same as the screws that hold the radio in on M bodies!

I put one on my 66 satillite got mine from PG classic in Canada amazing parts very well made came with the bracket and seal was around 300 canadian dollars makes the car

If you already have the cap...Megaparts has just the trim/bracket/grommet for$195.
