Clutch pedal sticks to floor

Recently driving my 70RR ,stopped and nailed it from a dead start,speed shifted from 1st to second and clutch pedal stuck to the floor until i let off throttle. new clutch and pressure plate installed when i bought the car. i havent removed the flywheel cover yet,but intend to when weather breaks in tn.

with a dual friction centerforce clutch, the spring on the clutch peddle is removed or it sticks to the floor
 
i believe it is a diaphram type pressure plate because the pedal mashes real easy and there is no pedal spring.
 
Sticking to the floor under high RPM Is a big problem with a stock diaphram clutch.( which would be wrong for a Mopar) I could never find anything to do to stop it.................................MO
 
Check your z-bar. I had that happen to me a couple of times before the weld broke.
 
I thought it was called over centering. Maybe reduce the amount of travel a little. Not so much that it's hard to shift.
 
the over center spring under the dash is too help with pedal effort on the stock borg&beck pressure plates. this spring will have to be removed when going to a diaphram clutch.
 
You use the clutch to speed shift into 2nd gear?
 
You only need a clutch to start and stop otherwise no real reason to use it while moving.
 
I go thru my gears without using the clutch all the time, not so much down shifting but up shifting yes, with a little practice it's smoother than using the clutch.
 
By the time "a little bit of practice" has gone by your transmission is already comprimised usually!
 
Man nodust you need to drive a truck for awhile and I don't mean a pickup eather. It is not a hit or miss game if you learn how to do it.
 
I own two tandem diesels with 13 speeds! However you do use the clutch in a light truck or car!
 
Its hard on the synchros. The job of the synchro is to speed up or slow down the next gear being selected and the input shaft so that they match the speed of the output shaft. With the clutch engaged the input shaft speed cant be changed. You can get close and avoid grinding the gears but it still stresses the synchros. I bet there is quite a bit of brass shavings in your gear box oil
 
Thanks for the input Hemi Rebel! I have seen a few Dodge pu truck transmissions ruined by not using the clutch! Dodge diesel is especially vulnerable because of the torque they have. Just trying to save a repair bill.
