Well I had a hell off a day trying to put a new gas tank in my 70 Roadrunner. I have a Right Stuff tank and AMD straps, bolts and OER neck. The bracket on the neck would not work because it sat to low so I removed it. The straps have no bend at all at the filler end ( completely straight) and will barely reach the bolts ( green colored reproduction studs)hanging at the differential end with no way to even touch a tread with the nut. Does any one know if the factory straps had a bend and drop down at the filler end? The ones I have are straight with not enough length to try and put my own bend in it. All parts are correct part # for a 70 b body and the tank is pushed back at the filler tube end as far as it will go. Tank it pressed up against the trunk floor with a reproduction mat between them. Hhhheeeelllppppppp. Thanks.

I have never seen an unused factory strap but with that said the ones I've taken out do have a slight bend at the rear of the tank. The way I have always installed the straps is to install the strap bolts in the strap with the nuts just started and then
push up the strap and hook the bolt in the hole in the brackets

Anyone know if their 68 to 70 straps are bent down or stepped at the filler end?

It tends to curve through this slot downward and around the tank and over. Hope this helps.

Thanks. Do you know if the straps look prebent where they meet the tank at the filler end? Mine just bend slightly right at the tabs only and then the strap is straight coming back.

They are definitely pre-bent. Mine are stock from 68.
