How to remove wires from emergency/parking brake switch?

I'm in the middle of removing the dash for renewal on my 72 SSP project. I have all the wiring unplugged (I hope) except for the parking brake switch. I pull real hard and the spring stretches back but no wires pop off. What's the trick? I got the door switches off OK (but I least with those I could see what I was doing). Thank you.
