I have Direct tv and my package includes this channel, but I don't get it. So I call them, lady says I need a hd box! WTF! I have friends that have cheap cable and they get it, so what gives? I'm pissed!!

how old is your TV check manual maybe you can set to watch HD channels

Tv is not 1 year yet. So maybe the gal on the phone was correct and I do need the hd receiver.

I had velocity with direct tv and have it with att uverse now. Both are pretty basic packages - but you do need HD. It's only a few bucks a month.

Funny I went through exactly the same thing just recently. Our Directv box was 10 yrs old and the tech did not even want it back when he installed the genie. Next you will probably find out just how fast your internet is when you try to stream. I can only get 3.0 Mbps and that's barely enough. Here is a cool speed test the tech used to verify internet speed:

Zack,
Every 2 years a DirecTV customer is able to get an upgrade in equipment free.
(I think)

So, in March 2016 the next upgrade is available.
Get a HD receiver then
It's only $5 or $10 per month XTRA
$5 for the HD receiver and or $10 for the HD recorder

Just call DirectTV and ask...

I'll have the wife do it. She seems to get the better deals as I start to lose my patience with the people on the phone.

I switch every two years to keep the price at the specials & have equipment upgraded free. You would think that giving existing customers deals would be cheaper.

You too huh? My question is, how long have you been with Directtv? If it's been before TV started doing HD stuff then you have the old dish and not HD. Make sure they don't screw you and give you a new non-HD dish like they did me, then balk like $h!t when you discover that they didn't give you what you asked for, and then try to bend you over, like they did me. Good Luck

When we got our new TV I called DirectTV and asked to be upgraded to HD for free because Dish sent me an offer for free HD upgrade. They did upgrade us for free.
Yes, it is stupid that a person has to call to get upgrades and deals, we've been a Direct TV customer for 13 years.

About a month ago we received a notice in the mail the our cable company (Wave Broadband) is "upgrading" the service in our area. They are doing away with the analog channels on their system to make more bandwidth room for other services. So it's basically less service for more money. Soon, technology is going to catch up with the cable operators and all broadcast TV will be over a single high speed data channel. I'm not a CATV expert but I'm thinking that the days of their network monopoly are numbered. JMHFO.

I just ordered the Velocity channel a couple weeks ago because I was missing so many car shows. I love this channel.

Last night I watched 'Fat and Furious' and I was shocked when it took a 572ci to make that Chevelle go 12.4 in the quarter. I would have thought that putting some goodies in the stock, number matching 454ci and some gears would have made it go 13's or lower. And 50K for what they did? Usually they are allot better in pricing.
