The Weather Channel, who names these damn Winter storms (no one else uses names, BTW!), causes so much craziness themselves, regardless if it's going to snow, sleet; or if there is a hurricane coming. They intentionally stir up so much anxiety and fear. It's how they make money. Of course, they are rambling on 24/7 if the "big storm" affects the East Coast; and specifically the DC/NY/Boston corridor. Hey, Weather Channel, I don't give a ****! I never watch them, as they have fully bought into the man-made climate change hoax. Plus, their graphics are ****.
I do not care what it "feels like" outside. Tell me the temperature. If it's -10*F, guess what? The wind does NOT change the actual temperature, whether it's 32*F or minus 23*F. I can look out the window and say "Wow, the wind is blowing, I need to get in and out quickly!"...I do not need some dimwitted reporterette standing on a sheet of ice and telling me "Stay home, it's pretty slick out!"...Then get the hell off the ice, little girl! I do not need some newsreader to tell me to stay home, nor the State Patrol. If I need to get out in the weather, the decision to do so is mine and NOT theirs. The Nanny State at its' nadir.
I grew up in Colorado. Wind and snow? Guess what? Get your asses to school! Go to work! I had a 100-mile round-trip commute five days a week. I knew the roads were gonna suck, so I left with plenty of time to spare. I knew it might take three hours to get to and from work each some days - I sucked it up and did it! No whining, no bitching, no six-days-worth-of-supplies in the car in case I spun out somewhere. Oh, and no cellphones, either!
Good God, you'd think that these days, we've never, ever had snow before and we need the news idiots and the Governor to tell us how to handle snow and ice. Just STFU and let us do what we need and want to do.
