Finally installing the long waited A/C which means time to sort out the pulley setup. After thinking about it I've decided that it makes no sense to stay with the v belts when serpentine is far superior so now the question is how? I'm considering making my own but having little time might just buy one. Here's one I like, wish it was a single belt with a tensioner but it's priced fair (in comparison) and is an 8 rib. Any suggestions????

Have you looked at March? Seen a slick one belt serpentine pulley system on a 70 bee with a 440 at a car show.

The cvfracing one looks to be pretty decent price?

I put a Billet Specialities Tru-Track on the 505" stroked 440. Other than for the looks, I don't think it was worth the premium price, and the power steering version does not come with a reservoir, it has AN fittings for a remote reservoir (at additional cost.)
On the other hand, it does come with all new components including an aluminum Mopar Performance water pump housing and water pump, Power Master 140 Amp alternator, Sanden SD-7 A/C compressor, and Maval power steering pump. The full polished kit was around $3,000 plus another $350 for the PS reservoir and braided stainless AN line kit (has AN fittings for the PS unit.)

When I was looking into the serp setups the CVF Racing reviews were way better than March. For the price can't go wrong with CVF I just hope they can do them in your preferred finish

The single belt system is a lot of bread from March. The 2 belt system is cheaper.
I have the 2 belt system on my small block that pumps out a good amount of power. I have no issues with the March set up. It is IIRC, 6 ribs wide.

Perfect timing 727! no such thing as coincidence... decided this week to use a serpentine set up on the crossram and was searching the forums for previous threads.... thanks for starting this one!!

I'd like to learn a bit my about SD Concepts, they make a true serpentine kit using standard parts but I'm having trouble finding any pics of their new billet setup. Feel free to post the slickest setups you come across.

I'm so digging this setup, not a single belt setup but the cleanest I've seen yet with the A/C mounted down low. Time to track down the brand and hope for a decent price.

Awesome, maybe between the 2 of us we can track down some options.

I believe these are pics of the SD Concepts serpentine setup. If I'm reading correctly it's pretty affordable at $550 but requires a different alt and power steering pump? Their website is under construct so I'm waiting to hear from them. The kit pictured I believe is their old one mostly made out of reworked parts but they now offer billet????

Not as clean as the other and a bit clunky looking but an honest to goodness serpentine robbed off a modern car.

I better add before someone notices...... yes the water pump turns backwards. According to SD the pump works perfectly normal in reverse provided you have the right straight vane pump.

Can anybody tell me who makes that slick setup that mounts the A/C pump down low that I posted? My labtop is down and the smart phone is a real pain sometimes. Thanks

I have serpentine belts on my 68 RR too,
I bought individual pulleys that fit my need
from March Industries, got them from Magnum Force Racing,
I have an electric water pump {& fans} only run an alternator & a power-steering pump,
I made a idler bracket out of a 1/4" piece of 7071 Alum.
I mounted it off the water-pump front top right & got the idler pulley from MFR too..
I didn't like the looks & bulk of the kits & 1 belt designs,
I had to do some shimming & altered spacers off the alt. &
for the power steering to line up, the Pro-Sport 7-1/4' billet steel damper {Mancini Racing},
I would have had to do custom shims either way, it's a weird thickness...
I like it much better, it's far lighter, no power loss, really quick rev.'s & no belt throwing,
IMO much better than the V-grove OE stuff too...
Simple easy deal, not a big heavy expensive
{I don't care about price usually unless it doesn't add any performance benefits}
& really fugly/bulky bracket hanging off the front too...

If I am to replace something, I want something better & performance oriented...LOL

sorry about the photos they are really old & they suck,
but only ones I have at the moment...

wasn't planning on really sharing them :poke:

That's what I don't like about the bottom 2 (bulky). I've tossed around the idea of buying the pulleys and making the brackets like you mentioned since all the time and expense would be in making the pulleys. Might go that route if I don't like the cost of the one I like.

I guess I can scratch the low mount A/C setup, a quick look at my car tells me you'll need an electric fuel pump for that one and I'm not going there.

You can get the bracket from Bouchillon : http://www.bouchillonperformance.com/ac_compressor_brackets I'm planing on getting one myself maybe over the winter here, but need to convert to electric fuel pump as well. Definitely no room other wise.

Look into the march pulleys, you can buy them individually. I priced them up maybe a year or so ago and the would going to cost around the 550-650 mark. Due to the budget running low and me wanting the car on road sooner rather than later, I went to stock pulleys for the time being.

Summit seemed to be the best price at that time.

Thanks Malicious, I originally thought about sticking with v belts like the Bouchillon brackets show but a 100 amp alt needs a bit more. Can't believe what they want for those brackets..... probably take an hour to make?? I like mechanical fuel pumps so I won't switch mine out, the shaker scoop on my car will hide the pump regardless so I'm back to the CVF setup. Still looking

I'll look into the March pulleys, would be nice to choose where everything mounts.

The shop I start at Monday. Colorado Speed Co. Has an insanely Bitchin 70 cuda with a gen ll 528ci hemi with hilborn electronic fuel injection. It's got a sweet serpentine setup from March and has got vintage air. Monday I'll take some pics and post them.

Cool, I'll keep my eye open.

Problem is it will likely be one of the $2,000+ jobbies?

I'd like to see it too...
If nothing else for the Car ****
