My Late Brother Will's Chopped Oval Bug

I have got to see this one!!! That's a sweet looking setup and putting it in a Bug....... hang on cause it's gonna scoot. Love where your going with this.

This reminds me of those plastic model car kits called "Zingers!" from the 60's and 70's..Cars with giant oversized engines.

Many Many Thanx to Habib (1,2 or 3?) and Photon440 for running photos up for me, this 4LG cant seem to activate bbo's pic loader for me, just freezes when i engage.
I wanted 5" wide whls up front, but these tailor mades were 6" minimum possible....my lug pat is 5 on 130mm and most shelf **** is way too positive offset for my taste, so wheels were made up for me out of NOS of a 30 yr old design....different, they are cast alum centers in a steel wheel. Not perfect by a stretch, but i know someone who can deburr, sand and polish them out a bit nicer, pretty the windows up better.........the M/T's are directional, real happy w the look, the meats however are only R rated....112mph sustained is it..............when it comes time for "Bonnie", will have to invest in some Z's. Now that all the exterior junk is off lexi, see shes a pretty sweet looking rig, water pmp internal and only accessorie im running is alternator.......also i hope to dry sump/remote oil the motor w/ tank going up front along with radiator & coolers. Once engine sump/pan is off, then that pear shaped look will go away and engine will be 5" shorter, bringing my ground clearance to overall pan heigth. Much as one wants to think that this is just a wheelstander.....uhuh.....i did GM 215 alum blocks in old skool days on bugs & buses.....the axle being 911 S, it is close ratio and fairly tall. 911's were good for about 45 in 1st......im kicking up final drive and beefing ring & pinion. I want very long legs, making power more usable in canyons. 300hp is all im takimg out of it, Car with engine is only a skosh over 1500 lbs. so it will still jack rabbit just fine, amd You woll be surprised @ how well this Pup will handle, w the IRS, it will be less of a handful beyond limits than a straight fendered 911, which is one scary assed car when out of hand. This i know from plenty of exp w both. The vw IRS is sort of a copy of 911/912 geometry, and a stock IRS bug is a lot more confident past limits than either of the porches, and much more forgiving, tolerant of sloppiness.
I love the twin distributors, visual throw back to dual scintilla-vertex mag days.
Adapt plate, flywheel & clutch kit should be here tomorrow........have art engagement coming, but head first & smokin this Puppy @ end of month.....going to tuner for kinsler stack install plus US of A made brainage & 'lectronics, custom fabbed exhaust, complete rewire......found the correct looking headlight bodies, wired hi/lo 7", which i will load w Marchal "flatties". When i started the form for rear clip, i was thinking subaru, now, there will probably be very little added body work, i dont want to cover lexi up........this is not going to be a foul weather car anyway.
Wr are going to start looking for a 68 4 dr Coro......this eng or the linkin mk viii 4.6 4 cam, which has a very strong performance aftermkt, as far as lexi, hard to fade 350 lbs pkg that 500 reasonable horsepower can be tapped from. Im not into purism near as much as i am into function & efficiency......well let me rephrase, i am not at all into purism....boring.....Dare to be Different......at 62 that thinking has served me well....................Peaceful,Pleasant Sunday BBOer's

The flames will burn for real when that behemoth is fired up and motoring down the road. Looking great Big Jimmy!

The gear to plug the motor into 'Hyde' came a couple days ago, flywheel & adaptor plate fresh off CNC.....beefier 228mm porchuh' clutch, porchuh' t/o brng, pilot bushing & fastenersView attachment 308213

Heads up: our other project, an original Alpha 1 GTO body kit on Datsun 280 Z, w OEM Ferrari Lusso trim hardware. This is a piece of antique history, one of what looks to be only 3 kits ever sold by Joe Alphabet before Enzo brought the hammer down, other Z/GTO replicas are counterfiets of the Alpha kit, none of them have OEM Ferrari hardware. My Friend Marty bought the first & recently discovered, ONLY 3 kits @ my urging, back in 1983, i worked on all three, reinforcing and triangulating frame rails, bodywerk yata, hooked back up last yr w Marty & my Partner Paul, Who owns prop shop, is buying the 280 roller, has caused a stir too, since being pulled from mothballs, Az titles reconstructs by kit name and issues car its own vin #, so this is technically a 1962 Alpha 1 GT. btw, the 250 GTO Lusso Berlinetta the Datsun is faking is THE most valuable car in world, last documented sale @ 52M......this the car that Ford & Shelby dethroned @ LeMans20151204_094108_resized.jpgoh yeah Mar....be afraid, be very very afraid....hyde from jekyll!
