I have a base 71 charger. i took the cluster out because none of the gauges were working. Also the speedometer zero point seems to be stuck at 15mph . Couple of questions

1) Does anyone know how to reset the speedometer to set point 0

2) There are 4 posts on the back of the cluster that i know have to hook up to something however when i pulled it off there was no harness attached. Does anyone have a schematic and or picture of what was to be wired?

3) There are 2 metal objects on the board. I assume thats the voltage regulator but can someone tell me if i am right?

4) Does anyone have a schematic or pin out for the light switch?

5) How can i test the other gauges to make sure they are working?

Thanks for all the help!! this forum is a godsend!

The rectangular metal object is the voltage regulator

Before i posted here i googled everything. These are the questions i couldnt get fully answered

do you know what the cylinder attached to the regulator is? Is it part of the regulator?

The cylinder it most likely a noise suppressor for the radio. I have a 71 FSM for Plymouth but should be the same. I'll look at it. Also I believe you can download manuals at mymopar.com?!

Edit: I assume the 4 posts you are referring to are the ones on the right side as we are looking at the picture. They are simply the studs and nuts that hold the temp and fuel gauges in place. All the electrical is done via the cluster. All electrical, except the Amp gauge, enters through the round connector with all the pins.

the speedometer could simply said BYE! You can either rebuilt ( not cheap ) or replace. Standard clusters are cheap around though. Check if moves allmost freely anyway, OR maybe something inside is blocking out the needle at 15 mph

Gauges, you can simply feed the studs with any regular 9 volts batt for a couple of seconds. If moves, they are in working order. Doesn't mean they will be accurate, just in working order.

JUST A COUPLE OF SECONDS, since they work with 5 volts and 9 volts source can be dangeorus. If you have a 5 volts DC source around will work too. 2 1.5 AA batt in series will work too, just will take more time to move the needle. I allways use a 9 volts because is easier to handle and hook it up, using the regular plug they use to be connected.

If you want a kilo standard speedo I have couple around to send ;)

I would've snagged that cluster up in a heartbeat for $10.00 stinkin' dollars. Wife or no wife. I sold one of those clusters last year for $100.00. It was in mint condition. There is a small market out there for these sweep clusters. The 71-74 4 door B Body guys need them.
