hello guys, i kind of had a question about buying my first mopar & wanted to hear your opinions too. i have a choice between these two coronets. the white one is a clean 73, 225 slant six & automatic tranmission. the other one is a 72, also 225 but a manual one but it is less than half of the price compared to the white vehicle. the interior is fully compelete, lethear seats, all gauges working, a nice dash and no rust in the body. no fillers and it only needs a paint job, set of rims & tires to hit the road. so what do you think? should i get the white one and have no cash for aftermarket or restore the 72?

I have a 72 Coronet. If it was me I'd purchase the White one. The 72 will need a lot more work. If you won't be able to do mods to the White one if you purchase it. You will run out of money trying to rebuild the 72. The White one is in better shape. They don't make Sheetmetal for these cars. If you need any you would have to find it used. I see the export cars have different marker lights. I like those. This is just my opinion the 73 would be my choice.

yes your compeletly right. although my project for the 72 was to make it an unmarked police clone car. black paint, dog dishes, pushbar, a radio and other stuff, a 318 engine too. im going to pay the 72 a visit this week & see how much it will cost me, maybe i should forget the cop car.

i forgot to mention the picture of the 72 car is a bit old (2 months ago). it now has a compeletly new grill, set of headlights and complete bumpers.

Go for the white one...since they are both four doors and same engines you are better off with the white car.
Teheran ehh? I used to fly in to THR years ago, always had a good time there, all the airline crews used to have a nightly caviar party at our lounge in the Intercontinental Hotel!
....how many classic american cars are there?

That "White" car is very good looking!
that white car looks great, but i would choose the green one for several reasons.

the body doest look that bad,at all,and now it has new bumpers, and grill.
thats a big plus, and it has what appears to be new tires new rims?
even if you dont like the rims, you could fairly easily trade them off for a set of dog dish rims n tires.

do you have more pics?
another reason id pick the green car is its a leather interior.
not that common at all in those cars.
plus,is that a bucket seat car or buddy seat?
really need more pics.

as far as the paint goes,
you could do a quickie black can job and drive it till you get enough for a real paint job later.
it would still have that cop vibe, yanno.

edit for more thoughts:
again the green car because its a stick car,
again thats gotta be a rare combo in that 4 door.
so this was a leather interior coronet w a 225 3 spd manual?
what an odd combo?

if it was mine,
id drive it that way and start gathering parts for a magnum 360 with a 4 speed swap.:)

yes tehran we have lots of american classics. since it is banned to import any classic cars, we have to restore our cars our selves. a variety of mustangs from 65 to fox bodies, 2 chargers, nearly 20 coronet customs, a lot of chevys and buicks, cadillac sevilles, 1940s american sedans, 50s chevy belair......

yes the car has fully white lethear seats, a new holstered dash & door panels. the seats are kinda bucket seats but have a little consol in the middle. i have bought cop wheels, and already ordered dog dishes, and i also have to swap for a 318 or a big block so i think i choose the 72. the owner is on a trip, as soon as he comes back i see the car again & take more pictures

you've answered your own question since i have no money to restore that comment in itself answers your question

Hey Amir, do you know Amir Shasti? He contributed a cool article on Iranian mopars in Dec 2015 Mopar Action magazine:

Hopefully the new agreement helps you guys out with parts, I read that a lot of the mopars are getting crushed because of the lack of parts to repair. I like the '72, it looks mean as is maybe it's the wheels. Full interior saves you a lot of money.

yes i know him from instagram. unfortunatly the situation of mopars in iran is very bad. out of every 200 american cars, one of them is a mopar. but if you can find a mopar, then your the king of streets.

thanks to all of you guys, i think i have made my final decision. i am going for the 72 and restore it the way i want it to be. as soon as i buy the car, the process of restoration will be continued in a new topic

I might be wrong but the side marker lights on the '73 are not correct. They are for a '72 maybe? The '73 bumpers are correct. Are you sure the '73 is not a '72 with '73 bumpers on it? My first mopar was a '73 Coronet Custom with a 400 2bbl.

first off, welcome to our little corner of the internet, Amir!!

your statement above rings true here in the States as well. tons and tons of mustangs and camaros and only a few MoPars!!! and yes, we are the worldwide kings of the streets!!! lol

my pick, take the white one. she looks done and ready to drive. you can customize as you go and are still able to drive it.

by the way, are those Illinois plates I saw on the white car??

in iran you find different types of this wierd things, maybe its a 72 with 73 bumper.

i dont know, maybe its an illinois one. i cant get a clear look from that angle. i just made my decision! im gonna stick with my police car plan. and restore the 72 like a black unmarked car, swap the engine & tranmission, and a new set of black upholstery

318 I converted it to MP electronic ignition. I've been working on the mechanical stuff first. So I can drive it. Will get to the body sometime. Are you able to get parts from the U. S.

if i want some mechanical parts i can definitley find them here, but for the body parts & interior yes there are companies here that do import them from us for me. i think im going for a 318 or maybe a 360
