Dopey question #335

So I'm working on my 73 RR 400ci. I have no idea what's inside the engine as I only bought the car a few years ago. Here's the dopey question which I will qualify after I get some responses: when turning the engine by hand at the balancer for determining TDC, what direction do you spin the crank? Thanks!

Thank you. I, of course, was spinning the engine the opposite way because I read that big block Mopars spin ccw. Not realizing that the just the rotor on the distributor spins ccw. SMFH! One these days Alice!..

You are correct sir..... and watch out you didn't loosen the harmonic balancer bolt turning it the wrong way.

Here we go, dopey question #334: I got the chrome timing cover for the engine and should I try to remove the chrome from the gasket mating area for better sealing?
