Hello again

Wondering if there is any reason i couldn't relocate the fuel filter up above the alternator where I can see it and replace it easier? I believe the stock location is down below and behind the alternator. I am changing the fuel pump and thought Id put new hose and move the filter up.

Thanks

My 440 was done like that by the previous owner. It's not oem but it's your car to do with as you please. Just remember to put a rag under it when you change it for the fuel to spill onto.

Thank you

I think I will bring it up where I can see it.

Rather than on top of the alternator, you may want it up by the carb to avoid it leaking on an electrical component when replacing it or just because the hose gets old. The good part is that you will be able to check if it is leaking easier.

You also might want to keep in mind that placing it higher up or over the engine will expose it to more heat and could potentially cause the fuel to boil in the filter, especially if you have headers. The original location down low allows for better air flow from the radiator fan and air induction up from underneath the car to keep it cooler and reducing heat soak and issues that can be associated with it up high.

I agree.

All good points to ponder. I do have heat soak on hot days now... Damn ethanol...

I ran my line up between the alternator and water pump and have the fuel filter above the engine. I also use one of the clear plastic fuel filters as they don't conduct much heat and I can immediately see if I'm not getting fuel.
