Changing my first fuel filter as a rookie. Would like any tips you might have

I agree as long as it’s safe. There’s a reason oems have used hard lines almost everywhere. I don’t know if OP has hard lines from fp to ff but was just putting a bug in his ear.

What’s the reason you want to use hard lines from the fuel pump to filter? Or have the filter in a specific location? Mine definitely doesn’t have hard lines. Less likely to leak?
 
Abrasion resistance, less likely to deteriorate from heat or petroleum additives, ethanol. In an accident more likely to stay in 1 piece. You can continue to find reasons why a hard line is better.
