Just thought I would share this with you guys. I am a overhead lineman an took a emergency callout a week ago and this semi truck extended his trailer up to dump some gravel. But didn't notice the ov er head power lines. Trailer got into the primary an energized the truck an trailer. Didn't take long for it to blow out the tires then it just smoked everything else. Any of you see down wires, just stay the hell away. It is unforgiving. Here are the pics.

Probably shouldn't ask but did driver make it out?
Unfortunately the driver panicked and got electrocuted buy he did survive. Entry wound through hand an exit out foot. If you have to exit a vehicle with energize wires on it jump with both feet together as far as you can an then shuffle your feet side by side. Never walk or run. The voltage going thru the ground is like a rock hitting the water an seeing the ripple. Same goes for electricity. So if you walk away in between your stride you have a difference in potential an will get shocked of some sort.

It's called step potential. Looks like somebody needs to work on there relaying on that line! Should have cleared way before melting the dang truck

Glad to hear the driver survived...

scary stuff, good to know...

Thanks for sharing...

Yeah something should of popped I've had tons of trucks take power lines out it causes problems deff but I've never had one burn to a crisp thanks for sharing act like any cable is a live one and you'll be fine !

Yep fuse/OCR should have tripped, single phase? Didn't get into 12KV?obviously a lot of fault current available. Unfortunately seen it a few times some lucky ones and others not so. Real grizzly stuff. Keep your gloves on my brother, and if you're down south right now- be careful.

Also stealing power or copper can be troublesome.
Is that for real? Wow is all I can say. Years ago I saw a burned up guy laying in some water. He was driving through runoff that was about 14" deep and had gasoline on top where some moron drove through a gas station and hit a pump. For some reason, it didn't shut off before spewing quite a bit of gas. Anyway, the guy that was driving through the water ended up engulfed in flames when his car ignited the whole mess and he bolted from the car. He didn't make it very far and sort of resembled the person it this picture.

Also, some guy did a similar deal with a bucket truck but hit an over head steam line at work. He was probably doing 30 when he hit it. The line went into the central shop for heat in the winter time. The noise was deafening let alone all the water that the steam condensed into and flooding the shop. The guy driving the truck said he never did a wheelie in a vehicle before and thought it was never going to come down lol
