I've ran the Hughes {#7380k} on an older build,

I'm not 100% sure if it's the exact same one, but looks like it thou...

line hone/bore is necessary when going to studs too
Obviously if you change to the after market caps
of anyone's making, regardless of material, it will need line bore/hone too...
I had steel in mine...

again I'm not 100% sure they are exactly the same as mine, but look like it...

both are 10+ years old now one was almost 15 years ago...

I do remember my machinist, really liked the 440 Source kit...

I don't remember which one I had to do a bit of grinding on,
to make fit properly, I think/almost sure it was the Hughes one
I had other issues with Hughes's products, bad camshaft/lifters etc.,
& them not standing behind the stuff too, crappy/poor customer service,
extremely long wait time, even longer to get a refund etc...
{Mancini Racing wasn't the problem, it was Hughes}
Long story, I won't go into here, but I'm not their biggest fan...

I have the 440 Source Girdle as well as 440 Source steel billet main caps. 86 runs on the new 505 this year and all is well....440 Source Rocker arms also...happy with all of it....good customer service also.

For what's it's worth I pulled the front 2 main webs out of a stock block running aluminum caps at about 700hp. never hurt a bearing. Ripped the caps out of the block and btoke the crank in half right in front of the #3 main. My current Mega-Block shows cap metal transfer at 900hp.

I'm right at 700hp now. Bearings looked fine.
Just curious, was it stroker motor?
I'm still running a stock stroke and was wondering if that helps keep it together.
Stock caps with studs showed a little metal transfer.
I was hoping to squeeze another 50-60 hp out of this block.

It was a 498. 4.150x4.375 had about 250 passes. It's a crap shoot Many have gone way further.
