I really would like to maintain the look of the factory console shifter on the SB but the seemingly weak detents between gears (and ability to shift into neutral from D without depressing the button) has me a little concerned. Things happen fast at 6000 rpm's and i'd feel a lot better with a more positive shift mechanism with some safeguards. I drove my buddies 70 Challenger with slap stick and that's a far superior system when you are really getting into it....
Is there something i can do to improve shifting performance and still maintain factory appearance? If not, what do you recommend for safe and positive street performance shifting?
