Looking at a '64 Savoy with /6. What do I need to do mounts do I need? Heard the Schumakers conversion mounts move the motor forward. Need the weight transfer, as much as I can get.

A V8 K member, big block engine brackets and isolators, shorter throttle cable, and a matching trans mount for whatever trans you are using. Wiring can be modified, but as old as it is you might want to replace it. A 66-67 K member supposedly moves the engine back a couple of inches, but I've no experience with that.

You need a V8 Kframe from 64 to mount in stock location. Some have used the newer Kframe 65 -67 but some clearencing in the tunnel area is needed because the engine is rearward 2 inches approx but you would get better weight distribution. I did that to my 64 330 dodge and need to change out suspension parts anyway so changing the kframe is not that much more work.

I think the schumakers move the motor 3/4" forward. I don't recall how much space there is with a RB in this body style. Aftermarket K members out there, stock or tubular?

Whack all the mounts off....and use a motor plate.

What are you going to use the car for? Street I'd leave it on mounts. The later K-Frame is nice for a couple reasons. The motor sets back so there is WAY better fan to radiator clearance. Late (66 and up) headers fit, bigger selection. Yes the trans tunnel is snug but with the tunnel flange bent over it fits. You will have to mod the trans crossmember. Race car? Wack the mounts off the 6 cylinder K-frame and put it on a plate. While you are at it rework the K-Frame for easy oil pan removal. You could do this on a street car as well if the "race look" is OK with you. Have the headers you intend to use before determining plate location. A plte requires a fore/aft limiter as well. Pulleys will need to be reworked/spaced. Alternator or power steering mounting changed as well.

You can use a 64-5 V8 k-member to put engine in stock location, if a stick car then no issues with linkage and Z bar. A later one moves engine back about an inch and a half, and then firewall issues start with scatershields and 11" bellhousings and transmission mounts. Me, personally, I'm with Mike on motor plates. That's what I'm using on my 65.

Hey mmissle, John L sent me video of the cuda running! Looking good.

I've got an extra 65 K frame laying around from my Coronet if you decide to do the stock route...

Going the NSS route. Would like to keep it somewhat streetable, just in case.

If your going to run a shield cut the floor now. You'll be much happier you did later.

It took me 5 years, mostly working during the winter. Just keep pecking away at it.

I see you are using a 64/65 transmission, but what is the idea behind the extra side braces?
They limit the fore/aft movement of the motor which is mounted on motor plate. Poor strength front to rear with a large flat piece of metal.
