It's about 4" long, yellow, and labelled as 22A and 46399. Single-terminal female connector, and I think a 1445 lamp, although not 100% sure it was the correct one.

It's from my 68 roadrunner somewhere!?

There's no obvious instrument cluster or accessories missing a light, but maybe there is? Would like to reinstall in its rightful place if possible.

Cheers.

Probably the ashtray receiver light fitting.

The ashtray kind of has a lamp. See this pic that shows the alloy bullet shape thing at the top. However it has only a tiny pinhole that light shines out from. It sure ain't much of a lamp.

Or is that hole in the bottom left of the tray have something to do with it?

The bullet is where I was thinking of. The lamp doesn't show much through the pinhole. Are you sure it came from this car?

Yes very sure. It's been apart for painting, and it's all mostly back together except for a few niggles. this being one of them. It's not glove box either, as that's working, complete with the "lense". Could it be an external lamp by chance?

Is there a lamp holder for the ignition switch - I don't have a '68 wiring diagram, but if fitted in your car, the wire would feed from the time delay relay behind the dash. Time delay has 3 terminals.

On checking further - the ashtray lighting is Orange, and most other lamps are two-wire. very few lights rely on the lampholder for a ground return.

Okay, thanks for the suggestions my fellow kiwi. Let me check some more when it's not so late.

I just looked in the garage it is the ignition switch lite should have a blue cover where the bulb go's in and a bracket to hold to ignition switch behind the dash hope this helps also I have a extra one with the cover and bracket if you need one

Here are the possibilities I can think of:

4-speed reverse light - NOPE
ash tray
ignition
glove box
heater controls

Per my '68 FSM about the only thing yellow is connected to domes. Did RR's have a courtesy light under dash at either end?

Would it go to the glove box or console or ignition switch?? It's not for the center overhead interior light is it?

Yes, as kiwigtx also suggested, it's from my ignition - now I just need to locate the appropriate connector.

Thanks, I think I have everything though mr b.

Is it the "reverse" lamp used on 4-speed cars ?
Yeah nah. Mine's auto anyway.

No. just the map reading light with a switch, in the centre of the dash. That's working, as is the dome.

Also, thanks to others for also chipping in here. I appreciate all the responses.
And, yes, I'll do an intro soon kiwigtx.

How about some pictures of the car progress....check out the Welcome Wagon.

There are so many differences from the belvedere. Did they ever make a RR specific electrical diagram? I have a manual too, which includes some diagrams - unsure if they're exactly the same as what you posted. They look quite similar, but there is a lot of detail to compare, to know for sure. Like, the RR didn't come with a Tach, nor standard A/C or rear de-mister. Heck, even the fuse-count is wrong. Mine has slots for 6 fuses, but only 5 holders were equipped.

In that PDF I can see on page 3, a time delay relay, right in the centre of the page. However, it looks like that goes to bulkhead disconnect, so probably for indicators, or wipers. Is there another time delay relay somewhere? Maybe the RR didn't have a time-delay lamp system. Oh, and presumably the GTX does. Is it ignition lamp, map lamp and dome that all operate on the time delay?

I added ign. light to mine and that's the only delay there is after door is shut. On my Bee I always look at Charger wiring first especially for inst.panel stuff(Rallye dash).

If your car has the A01 light package it should be the ignition switch light on the time delay. Trace from the relay taped on steering column harness to a plug on yellow wire.
