Need to raise engine to remove small block oil pan?

On a '72 Satellite 318, need to loosen motor mounts and raise engine to remove oil pan (replacing rear main seal) or will pan slide out by just removing steering link? Thank you.
 
Don't know if it's the same but removing the steering link is all that's necessary on my BB 69 B body.

Same here, I just did this and on a 69 big block roadrunner, you just have to drop the link. I have done the same on small block A and E bodies.
 
I'm fairly confident you need to lift the motor some as I don't believe you will clear the oil pickup tube
