Carter afb 625 found a small ball

Cleand up my carb and found this small ball in the vacum hose that you see at the carb picture, where does it belong and how did it get there.

When we wanted to circumvent smog equipment we used to press a lead BB into the vacuum line that operated it. If the ball is a tight fit, that may be the reason it was there.

Yes it was tight, i blew some air into the hose and it popped out, why not only release the hose and plug the carb , should be the same thing?

Found this picture at Google, i also have a Edelbrock 1407 i think that i bought in pieces and it also has a ball.

On a visual inspection the smog control would appear to be factory correct. California has/has had air pollution laws...
