I'm looking for advice on shocks for my 1967 Coronet. I'm going to be installing 2" over stock leaf springs from ESPO and I'm not sure what route to take. I'm debating whether to use shock extensions, or a longer shock in the rear. If I get extensions I can run my KYB gas a just I currently have. If I go longer shocks, I need some recommendations, my KYB are 22.64" extended, I need 2" longer or more extended length. I've looked at rancho adjustable but they're 24 and some changes , a bit too short. 4x4 shocks are too long collapsed length and I can't find a good medium. Does anyone know a decent performance shock like a gas a just within reason for this 2" over stock set up?

It was suggested to me
By a couple of members to take measurements and contact a shock company.
If it's still possible, NAPA used to have a shock catalog that listed collapsed/extended lengths so you could match up what you wanted. Granted this was decades ago.
If you can, with the measurements, gonto Summitracing.com and fumble around the shock department and select extended and collapsed lengths.

There was a company known as Doetsch tech that also made up custom length shocks.

This is not something to take lightly if you want the proper reaction from a pair of shocks. It's not as simple as measuring from point A to point B and slapping on a set. Extension, compression, travel and the bore all come into play here. There is also an effective range of operation where the best performance occurs. If you could fit Toyota Carolla shocks on because they were the right length, would you do it? You really need to accept the fact that you should consult with a specialist from the supplier/manufacturer or you may be in for a lot of grief. You realize, that the higher the cars body, the higher the center of gravity and that's called "tippyness"

Gentlemen,
For my money, i use Monroe Super 500 shocks. These were developed by Monroe for NASCAR racing...and are definitely heavy duty. They have 1 3/8" pistons, hardened rods, high durometer rubber bushings, special valving, and a higher viscosity oil with an antifoam additive. These shocks provide a VERY stiff controlled ride that some may say is harsh. When combined with a hemi front sway bar and 0.92" diameter torsion bars an extremely stiff ride results. This is just my preference. They can be found on eBay....not cheap...but you get what you pay for....

I'm interested too. Thanks...67 Coronet, 440/ 727

I forget what Viking calls it,but I have more aggressive valving on the rear shocks:D

Viking has two lines of shocks either the warrior line or crusader. The warrior line is 19 position of valving where as the crusader is 21. Then you also have addition choices depending on what you do with your car. So they offer cruise, drag light, drag medium, and pro-touring.

Well she's all settled in. The ESPO springs are amazing and make my MP XHDs feel wimpy. The Gabriel Imperial shocks fit like a glove and aren't harsh,The stock KYBs were about 1.5" too short at full extension,no lean from my Coronet. These springs and shocks coupled with the new 1 3/8 sway bar and KYB gas a justs on the front give a firm modern ride and still comfortable. Maybe there are adjustables in my future but Curren I'm very content. The only thing left are wheels and tires, the wheels are going to be cleaned up and sprayed gloss black with police caps. Probably Futura GLS' with the letters turned in, the rear.(255/70/15) and some MT sportsman in the front with letters turned in. (225/70/15)
