I have never been to any of the big MOPAR shows (Nats or Carlisle), so I can't comment on the prices for certain things. I do love the '68 Coronet/Super Bee...and I will check any add on here just to see what parts are going for. If a decent deck lid comes up, since there are no repo's of it...$500-750 seems to be the average...if I needed one, I would have to pay, but I KNOW what I am looking for and what is/isn't being reproduced.
But maybe the problem is shows like the Barret-Jackson auction:
Joe Smuck sitting on his couch drinking a beer watches as a factory HEMI Satellite or GTX crosses the block and goes for huge numbers...he looks out the window to his back yard and see's the 4 door Satty sitting in the weeds rotting away and figures he is sitting on a gold mine...so he lists the car to get rid of it, when it doesn't sell then he parts it out on craigs or ebay asking big numbers??? I dunno...just speculating while sipping my coffee this morning.
I give anyone the credit who will restore a car back to factory...the time and money spent hunting down and restoring 40 plus year old parts...my hats off to you!! But not my thing...so I could be happy with a replacement part from the local auto parts store. But I do agree....some of the prices people are asking for their used parts are just nuts...and you have to wonder WTF are they thinking they have??!!!
