2017 7th Annual FABO NHRA "Pick 'Em" Game - Time For Your NITRO Fix! Get Ready To Make Your Picks!!!

Again JMO, but I really enjoyed Jack Beckman's comments while he was in the booth after getting knocked out in the opening round of Funny Car eliminations. I think he's a natural for that role after his driving career is done. Certainly a much better option than stuttering Tony Pedregon.

Congratulations to 'alsant' (FBBO) for winning the 2017 Carolina Nationals "Top Picker Eliminator" title with a very nice total of 140.5 points. He picked the class winners in both Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle. Both his Top Fuel and Funny Car picks lost in the second round of eliminations. His point total was helped by ET bonus points in Pro Stock and Speed bonus points in both Top Fuel and Pro Stock Motorcycle.
'cuda20' (FABO) was the event runner-up with 137.0 points.

Here's where the bonus points were earned if you picked the right drivers:

Top Fuel
E.T. - Doug Kalitta, 3.723 during qualifying
Speed - Anyton Brown, 331.85 during qualifying

Funny Car
E.T. - Courtney Force, 3.892 during qualifying
Speed - Jack Beckman, 330.47 during qualifying

Pro Stock Motorcycle

I hope you aren't jumping on a sinking ship, Reed!!

It's all good! We got time.
Good to see Richie Crampton make it to the finals. He was racing Hot Rod Drag Week up until Thursday. Larry Dixon was there too. Someday I'd like to do Drag Week. Just to party. LOL

But you might want to consider posting your picks ASAP.

Nice job Alsant!

Congratulations to 'SSG Karg' (FABO) for earning the Top Qualifier title of the 2017 NHRA Dodge Nationals with an outstanding total of 30.0 bonus points. He picked the #1 qualifier in Pro Stock, the #2 qualifier in both Top Fuel and Pro Stock Motorcycle, and the #3 qualifier in Funny Car. Way to go!
'Back in Time' (FABO) was right behind in the #2 qualifier spot spot with 29.0 bonus points.
'Nick2317' was the top FBBO qualifier with 28.5 points
More great picks!

Not quite, but still very conservative picks for the second race of the 'Countdown'.
We have 16 players for the Carolina Nationals and 15 different driver combos made up of:
* 4 different Top Fuel drivers. No Round 1 head-to-head matchup possibilities, but one possible head-to-head matchup in Round 2 of eliminations.
* 6 different Funny Car drivers. Again no Round 1 head-to-head matchups but two possible head-to-head matchups in Round 2 of eliminations if all the drivers make it out of the opening round.
* 4 different Pro Stock drivers. No Round 1 head-to-head matchups but one possible Round 2 matchup
* 6 different Pro Stock Motorcycle riders. Again, no Round 1 head-to-head matchups but we could have two head-to-head matchups in Round 2 of eliminations.

It's going to be interesting to see how the game points come out of this event.
Good luck all!

I always enjoy seeing a couple of the quirky things you'll see only during the television coverage of the events from Maple Grove Raceway: the barricade across Kachel Road at the end of the strip before the sand trap, and the Amish and Mennonite young people watching the drags from up on the hill overlooking the track. They'll never see their horse-drawn buggies going that fast or making that much noise!

"Pretty Ricky"? Really?

Congratulations to 'Budnicks' (FBBO) for winning the 2017 Dodge// Nationals "Top Picker Eliminator" title with an outstanding total of 183.5 points. He picked the class winners in Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle, and would've made it a clean sweep except his Top Fuel pick got beat in the final round of eliminations. His point total was helped by ET bonus points in Pro Stock.
'stroked340' (FABO) was the event runner-up with 153.5 points.
Outstanding picking!

Here's where the bonus points were earned if you picked the right drivers:

Top Fuel
E.T. - Clay Millican, 3.699 during qualifying
Speed - Doug Kalitta, 333.66 during qualifying

Funny Car
E.T. - Robert Hight, 3.844 during qualifying
Speed - Robert Hight, 339.02 during qualifying

Pro Stock
E.T. - Bo Butner, 6.554 during qualifying
Speed - Drew Skillman, 211.16 during qualifying

Pro Stock Motorcycle
E.T. - Scott Pollacheck, 6.822 during qualifying
Speed - Andrew Hines, 197.51 during qualifying

Here are the game point standings after the 20th event of the 2017 season, the second round of the 'Countdown:
2278.5 - stroked340 (FABO) no change in the game standings

2220.0 - Budnicks (FBBO) +6
2211.0 - cuda20 (FABO) +1
2195.0 - ocdart (FABO) -2
2192.0 - Nick2317 (FABO) no change
2184.5 - Back in Time (FABO) -3

Still no time off! The third event of the 'Countdown', the 21st race of the 2017 season, the 6th annual AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals, is next weekend September 29-October 14 at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Illinois, just across the Mississippi River from St. Louis.
As always, your picks need to be posted before Pro Qualifying starts on Friday, September 29 in order to qualify for all event bonus points. Pro qualifying is scheduled to start at 5:15PM EDT (2:15PM PDT).
The AAA Insurance Nationals entry list is posted on NHRA.com and currently shows 19 Top Fuel, 19 Funny Car, 15 Pro Stock and 16 Pro Stock Motorcycle entries, but the counts are always subject to change. Keep checking http://www.nhra.com/events/entrylist21.aspx for an updated entry list.
Get your picks posted and good luck!
The current television schedule shows Friday qualifying live coverage starting at 6:00PM EDT (3:00PM PDT), Saturday qualifying coverage starting at 1:00PM EDT (10:00AM PDT) on Sunday, immediately followed by Live Finals coverage starting at 2:00PM EDT (11:00AM PDT) Sunday. All television coverage will be on FS1.

Good luck all.

One final thing. 'fishmens67' (FBBO) has not posted any new picks for the first two rounds of the Countdown so by game rules has lost all of his sponsors and is parked for the remainder of the 2017 season. I hope he returns next year.
