have burned thru 4 boots so far causing a misfire..new accel 8.8 wires with adjustable angle boots with heat shield fabric type silver colored sleeves.1200 degree units that did not burn but let the heat thru.

what r our choices? what r u guys using?several plugs r right at the headers,,ceramic boots?thanks.

Kavalar wire booties and silicone wire boots. Have found no solution beyond that other than better fitting headers.

Ive seen the ceramic boots and will probably give them a try.
The people that I have spoken to that have them, love them.

Have you tried DEI 010542 Titanium protect a boots, they can handle up to 1800

that's what just burnt my new wires..they don't burn but transfer heat..

anybody tried accel's ceramic 2000 universal wire set...that looks like it should work....

I've ran everything, my last attempt was a set of custom firecore50 wires, metal plug boot covers, perfectly angled boots, and kevlar boot covers from a Winston Cup car.

You're not going to enjoy the answer. Remove the headers, heat'em, bash'em, and wrap'em afterwords. You'll need 2" x 200' of wrap to do a set of longtubes for a BBM. Purchase your stainless zip ties from Amazon in bulk. Use advanceautoparts with coupon codes to order the (2) 2" x 100' rolls of wrap required. The newer titanium wrap is a bit more expensive versus the standard wrap, but it does not require any additional coatings and won't fade. BTW when you tighten the stainless tie, cut the remainder down to 3/4-1". Use needle nose pliers and twist the excess to tighten, rolling it into itself. This will allow you to not only have the tightest fitment, but will be safe to the touch as well.

thanks for the input but that's xtreme..I ordered these wires from summit yesterday,,the plugs clear the headers easily,,the thick rubber boots covered with the titanium sleeves r the problem...a lot of guys r swearing by the ceramic boots..No hammers r going near my expensive coated headers!...

What headers do you have? Maybe a picture of the one giving you fits.

2 on the drivers side,,and 3 on the passenger...hedman race headers..there 1 of the better fitting headers I have used..no dings were required to install..and there going to stay that way..the ceramic boots should cure the problem..reading some of the feedback from others on that link, theres some mopar guys with 440's there that swear by them..

If you have no intentions on wrapping your headers or providing additional clearance, the ceramic boots are practically your only option. Good luck, hope they work out for you!

yes that's correct, thanks, but if I have to ding the headers at the spark plug area, they will have to be removed, which that will only happen over winter when the 426 marine block, stage 3 motor goes in..tomorrow when they get here from summit I will know..several guys swear buy them,,so..i will let u guys know..if they do clear the headers then its a major plus for everyone here.ceramic does not burn away or transfer heat.no grounding to header...i will be the guinea pig and let u know..why should the chevy guys get all the good s$%t..like polymer oil pump/cam drive gears that last forever with steel billet roller cams..and ours, without radiousing the cam drive gear with a drimel tool, chews the brass gears away like whittling a peice of wood.. been there..........

I have wrapped a set of headers to protect the starter and plug wires. Only succeeded to cook the headers which cracked and fell apart. Don't intend on ever wrapping another set.

it never looked like a viable option for what I would gain...I have seen nice examples but..it always seemed to me that if I had to wrap a set of headers for heat..all I was doing was trying to mask other problems.and a lot of work.here,,its spark plug boot only..no more heating problems with my 3000cfm combined fans...in 85 degree weather idling downtown stop and go...170-175...only 1 spark plug could be tight..depends on the ceramic boot..pics look like they all should work..

Getting them to clear mopar big block headers are not a problem?

Worked fine on my headman breakin headers as well as my ceramic coated Flowtechs.

Love these things - only wires I’ll ever use.

great!just installed them today..tight little suckers..had to use spark plug wire assembly lube to get them to go all the way on the plugs..but these wont burn.now as long as they don't crack and create a grounding point, should be good to go..cleared all header tubes..the tightest one was #6..it may be touching the tube barely...will run it tomorrow..
